Atmdc Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Hi this is my first post to this forum, some really great models around here! Started this kit in 2007 and finally picked the hobby back up to finish it. I scratchbuilt the engine since this kit was originally curbside. Hood is currently awaiting drying and polishing. Also made a few other modifications for realism. Hope you like it!
IronMunkie Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 That's pretty cool. I love seeing Curbside models that get made into full detail models - the crafting skill is quite amazing. :-)
kimbogum Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 5 Years is totally worth the end result! 1:1 looking.
Johan020 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Looking very sharp But what is that donut hanging at the back
Atmdc Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 thanks for the comments! Looking very sharp But what is that donut hanging at the back Its a japanese subway handle. Its a trend in japan to attatch them to your tow hooks on street or drift cars. like this one
Intmd8r Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 5 Years is totally worth the end result! 1:1 looking. X2! For sure this is one of the best Corola builds I've ever seen. Love the engine too!
Draggon Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Very nice work, these just look so nice lowered like yours. Glad you cleared up that ring-thing, Ive seen them for years but didnt know what they were.
MichaelJ Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Really like the right hand drive.. Great color & detail!!! Michaelj...
David G. Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Excellent work on the engine, detail and paint. It all looks really good. I imagine that the subway handle is a way for the driver to thumb his nose at the public transit system... sort of an "UP yours! I've got a car!" statement. David G.
cherokeered Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Awesome job. I like the interior stripped detailing. Also the engine looks great. Did you scratchbuild the whole thing including the block or use a block from a different kit?
LAone Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 looks great man. nice details. did you use the revell b16 as a base? if so, nice idea. yashu: google AE86 with F20c and youll see that its been done many times.
Atmdc Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 Thanks again! haha looks great man. nice details. did you use the revell b16 as a base? if so, nice idea. yep, i had some progress shots on another forum long ago. heres a link if your interested in seeing a few pictures of how the engine was formed http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=772427&highlight=ae86
