Erik Smith Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 My club had this for a common build theme - due in May. Needless to say, I missed the deadline. I did manage to finish it now, though. Kit is the recent reissue '64 GTO - paint is Duplicolor primer and Duplicolor dark cherry red metallic. It is built to represent a "burnout machine" - the kind of car somebody has that is in construction, but meanwhile, is darn good at wasting tires. Engine is a 615 Chevy big block from the Revell 55 Chevy Pro Sportsman kit - borrowed some parts from the parts bin (manifold, front cover, headers, etc) - painted Pontiac engine blue from Model Master.
stevekouw Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Very nice build. It has the perfect look!
my80malibu Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 looks ready to pound some mustangs into the ground.
Helix Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Oh yeah, good job, you can just imagine the tyre smoke right now
Grumpa Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Nice! I like the grill treatment and the wheels look great.
bbowser Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 That is very cool, love the steelies and whitewalls. What's with the mirror way out on the fender?
tooltas Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 all that car needs is some bigger tires on back maybe street slicks
jaydar Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 That has a serious, kick butt, no mercy look!
David G. Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Clean and simple, Excellent work! David G.
mikemodeler Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Very nice! I love the stealth look about it!
Erik Smith Posted September 8, 2012 Author Posted September 8, 2012 That is very cool, love the steelies and whitewalls. What's with the mirror way out on the fender? Thanks for the comments. The mirror - I was going to hang it traditional style but found a few reference pictures like this this: I liked the non-traditional look. The side mirrors were optional in 1964 as far as I could tell, so they were mounted in different spots, even on the door.
hvymtl Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 The mirrors are done like the euro super cars of the era , And i really dig the whole vibe of the car also Bad Ass (we allowed to say that) .way too cool Michael
slusher Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Really nice look of a daily driver with attitude
dimaxion Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Nice goat . Looks legitimate and convincing . I think I saw this one day on my rounds . Just right Street Warrior . Thanx ..
W-409 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Great looking Pontiac. Very good subject also, I haven't seen these "Burnout Cars" being built too often. Great idea on the engine too. I wouldn't have an idea of using the Pro Sportsman engine and modify it for a street driving.
