Who said 5000 kits?

That has been the number of kits that the NASCAR kits were run at, I suppose the '69 might get run at a higher rate, but he's paying for them up front and then has to sell them later. 5000 kits @ $10 a kit is investing $50,000, and while I'll will not pretend to have any knowledge of Model King's finances, that's a good chunk of cash to have tied up.

Yea, we're gonna be needing a mess of those!

Dave had told me that they specifically didn't do the stepside version because that 1953 AMT box fit perfectly, and was still valid for these years. There were some minor changes in that box over the years, but nothing that would be seen in scale.

Can you imagine the feeding frenzy when these kits hit Ebay??? It will be nauseating, I am sure, to see what the first ones sell for.

Probably so. I'm going to wait for the dust to settle and then buy one. My LHS already had the Chrysler NASCAR version on sale with a $5 off sticker on the box. The stock version was still full price. The Hudson's also had the $5 off sticker on them. That only put them in the under $20 range though.

I don't think the MK version of this kit is going to hang around shelves long like the NASCARs do... I think it's going to be the hot one!

Yeah...I'll probably pre order a couple of these when Model Roundup has them available for po. I'd like to do one stock and one w/ a step side bed.

Picture on left taken of the kit from well above the roofline and to the side of the fender.

Pic of real truck on right taken from nearly bumper level and more to the front of the truck than the left pic.

Either way, looks more than close enough to me. Still buying it. :)

It also appears that the years are different too
