sobpinstriping Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 My brother in law gave me a stack of old car mags today, I never realized how big modeling was back then, some of the issues are half on models and half on 1/1s.
JamesW Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Went to Meijer to get my daughter a couple things, and got this.............. for $14.99. Don't know if I'll ever build it, but couldn't pass it up for that price.

crazyjim Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Nice haul. All I got was a backache from putting up the Christmas decorations.
Bill Eh? Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Jim, sorry for the delay in replying about Bob's Paints. A good friend, Pat Redmond gave them a highly recommended. His name is Bob Dahl, located in Kenosha WI. You can contact him at: gdahl1@wi.rr.com He was a great guy to talk to and has some great colors. He told me that I could probably cut the paint 3:1 lacquer thinner to paint.
Erik Smith Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 (edited) Cool. How does this kit compare to Tamiya's 2 CV? Edited November 26, 2011 by Erik Smith
sobpinstriping Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 (edited) I just got my hudson kit! An aquintince I know has a 49 so with a lil bit of scratchbuilding I hope to build this I'm sure someone will chime in on how they are totally different but it is a good base to start from I think Edited November 26, 2011 by sobpinstriping
Lownslow Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Cool. How does this kit compare to Tamiya's 2 CV? never built or seen a tamiya 2cv
bandit1 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I was at the crafts 2000 (hobby lobby renamed) and i was looking at the left over kits they had and i was going to get something but either i already had it or had no interest in it ...until i got home and dumbfounded myself that i should have picked up one or two maybe ! DUH!
Roadkill2525 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 These finally came in from Japan, hopefully they'll be better than the ones I did in 2001.
Kaleb Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Got an Remote Control vehicle Ive been wanting one for awhile, got to find a remote for it though and a charger. Its going to get a major makeover so I can take it to car shows.
jbwelda Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 that 2cv must be an ex-heller kit? probably no comparison at all to the tamiya which is very very nice and probably falls together with the least provocation. i got one of those decal trays too and i must say, even though they seem pretty lame in concept (cause like why not just use a saucer?) it works nice and makes it very easy to retrieve even small decals. have fun!
Chillyb1 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 that 2cv must be an ex-heller kit? probably no comparison at all to the tamiya which is very very nice and probably falls together with the least provocation. The Revell 2CV is new tooling and not related to that piece of ###### from Heller, reboxed by Gunze-Sangyo. I threw mine in the trash after I got my first Tamiya 2CV. I'd like to see more of this kit; I'm reasonably certain that Tamiya will still be the better one. i got one of those decal trays too and i must say, even though they seem pretty lame in concept (cause like why not just use a saucer?) it works nice and makes it very easy to retrieve even small decals. I also got one of those not too long ago and I really like it. I recently gave it a thorough test with a decal-intensive build and it annoyed me a couple of times, but I found it to be a great improvement over the more commonly used found-around-the-house tubs.

RodneyBad Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Outside of my Yodel Plymouth Fury I got in trade from PartsMarty I also won this on ********y Don't really know why but it looked cool and was Cheap
Casey Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Don't really know why but it looked cool and was Cheap I made that mistake with the Revell Lightning Rods Monza. I think the neon graphics were what hooked me. I picked up this Fujimi Chevy Astro in a trade with George (george53, an excellent trader BTW ): I also picked up another 1/32 Shelby GT500 kit with the 50% off coupon at Michael's...not bad for $5.00: Today I picked up a 1/32 (though it's closer to 1/35 scale or so ) Lindberg '52 Chevy Fastback kit, mostly out of curiosity, but the $3.49 price was a nice bonus: I am pleasantly surprised by this kit, even though it has a three-piece body and only 30 pieces total. The body pieces fit together perfectly, and it looks fairly accurate so far.
PatRedmond Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Thanks, Bill. Yep, Bob is a great guy with fantastic products.
Bill Eh? Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Thanks very much Pat. I really appreciate having the entire list of his paints. Also appreciate the behind the scenes arrangement you set up. I'm going to go over the list to decide which additional colors to buy.
lordairgtar Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I went to a small swap meet in Milwaukee yesterday, found a 55 Ford Panel with Harley decals still sealed and an original 1966 Buick Wildcat kit. Box is real nice and still had both hoods on the kit but was missing the road wheels and the tires...but that is not a deal breaker as I have those around here somewhere. Basically jut liked the box and I may restore the Buick.
bandit1 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 what are you going to do with all those wheels? your not thinking of making an 8 AXLE CRANE EH?
Guest Johnny Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 My son's manager at Lowes gave him a bunch of started models her son didn't want any longer. He kept the Testors GTO Judge metal kit but I got a couple to "save". An AMT 70 Challenger Convertible/hard top it has to be striped and I have to find the glass and tail light lenses. A 72 GTO that looks like they tried to scrape the paint off while it was still wet. But it is complete. The a hideous looking Firebird. Motorworks Street Machine that is void of chrome parts(everything molded in green) with the motor glue bombed together and into the chassis.
