JamesW Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Went to a local thrift store and bought a AMT Mack R685ST truck, 18 bottles of older Testors paint, another AMT 1958 Chevrolet Impala and a small box of parts. All of it was 9.99, which was fine with me. Wish I had trift stores around here that had the kinda stuff.
2000-cvpi Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Wish I had trift stores around here that had the kinda stuff. It does not happen that often around here (Kalamazoo). I am lucky to get a few kits a month in the winter. Garage sale time I do much better.

We have 2 Goodwill stores and 2 St. Vincent De Paul stores, and none of them get any kind of kits, EVER.

Sounds like my area, except when they do around here they thing there made of gold, I'm not paying $12 for a AMT '64 impala that had a bath in glue and is missing all kinds of parts.
charlie8575 Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Sunday, I purchased my entry for the Revell contest. One 1957 Bel-Air 2-door sedan, a can of Testors Tropical Turquoise lacquer and some Acryl semi-gloss for a bunch of projects. Charlie Larkin
Nick Winter Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Got these, I know that the mags aren't MCM's but there mostly about Truck kits, so I had to have them. The parts pack has around 105 parts to it.
RodneyBad Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 (edited) Bought a 1/31 Toy Truck Duallie. Why? The wheels measure out to 18"inch in 1/24 From a Better priced LHS Edited January 21, 2011 by Zukiholic
RodneyBad Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 (edited) Received a kit in the mail today. But the grill shown on the box is not the Grill that comes with the model I also realized that I didn't win the Cannonball Run Van but I did win the Rescue 911 Dodge van. Whoops, I see a possible exchange. Darn. It would be the right thing to do tho. When it rains it Pours I went from not having any 17" RS Watanabes, Ordered 2 sets, Then Trading for A set, and Then found I had a set In a wrong box marked 15" Watanabes Now I wish they were just 5 lug Edited January 28, 2011 by Zukiholic
Nick Winter Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Rodney the grill that it came with, does it look like a cross between a '78 Dodge van grille and a '81+ style dodge van grille? Also I got this today, nothing fancy, From Left to right; Flat black, Gloss black, light grey primer, dark grey primer, red oxide primer, white primer, and a can of aluminum.

Basically that is a 82 with the wrong grill.

Anyways, I have contacted the Ebay seller about receiving the wrong kit and now I am passing it along to the rightful owner Alain in St-Alphonse De Granby Quebec. Anybody know him by chance?? Let him know that his kit is on the way. Darn, I soo wanted to keep it

2000-cvpi Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 While grocery shopping at Meijers I found a left over Camaro kit that had been opened. The kit was all there and it was only six dollars. It was the only kit left over from Meijers Christmas stock.
Darren B Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Found these at my lhs all 4 for $16, my lhs had found an estate sale with thousands of kits. Why can't I ever come across a sale like that?

It's nice to see them selling them cheap instead of marking them way way up like most estate buyer/dealers do.

I know what you mean, I was surprised to however I just found out about it last night when i was entering some build ups in a constest for supernationals and over heard someone telling someone else bout it, so I just got in on the left overs so they may have had some higher prices to start. But do know what you mean I was surprised my self, specially on the mack truck being still wrapped in plastic for $6.00. I don't get lucky this often!!!
Chuck Most Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I got issue #154 of MCM! Pretty good one, other than the fact they let that Chuck Most hack back in...
Rob Hall Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Picked up the Revell '63 Impala SS and '67 Chevelle SS reissues at my LHS this afternoon.
kitbash1 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I got a Chris Etzel Watson Roadster that Lance sellers has repoped. Excellent kit
Railfreak78 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I got a lot over this weekend. I picked up this 1999 Dodge Neon. Needs a couple tires now and an O2 sensor, wheel bearing. PIcked up this lot of kits too. The Mustang and Matador are fresh kits. The rest are rebuilders. The boxed Camaro is the one with white drag tires and no t-tops. I do have plans for all of these too. So in all including the Neon I spent $350.00 this weekend

Be sure to sign up over at www.neons.org if you haven't already...and plan on replacing the fuel pressure regulator if it hasn't been already. Great score for $350!
mikemodeler Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I sent an order to VCG Resins on 1/18 and in today's mail was my order! Considering the snow and crazy weather in New York,I thought to get my order that quick was fantastic! My hat is off to Craig Hosfeld (Mannyclub here on the forum) for the great service and product. I also got spray some stuff today as it got up to 62 degrees here in Charlotte. Tomorrow should see some more painting activity!
