I got my Revell `68 Beetle kit in the mail this afternoon. I'm going to try it as a possible basis for my upcoming Baja build. Now to compare it to the Tamiya and see what's what…..

I think that one's nice enough to keep intact. Nice old custom work and pleasing paint job.

Well, it will have to continue it's life without an interior because it's going into my '61 Starliner. :) Steve

I got these from a Local Model Car Show today. My plan was to keep my budget low and surprisingly I managed to do that!

The '62 Impala Convertible is missing a chassis and the body is painted. Complete engine and interior are there, though and that kit has a great 409 with Cross Ram intake and Offenhauser's finned valve covers. It was cheap so I had to pick it up.

SMP's '60 El Camino is missing all of the Custom parts and some smaller items, but it doesn't matter me. I will use a chassis from AMT 1959 El Camino and engine bay from another source to make it a Mild Custom. It was pretty cheap too so I had to get it. More pictures Here.

Then I bought some smaller stuff, a bottle of Tamiya Blue, three pairs of 9" Slicks, inner wheels and some valve covers: Original ones for Chevy W-Block and Generation 2 Big Block, Offenhauser valve covers for W-Block and Weiand and Corvette valve covers for SBC. Those magazines I got for free.

Cute kitty. Adoption ?

Yes, Human Society, they were having a week long sale here, $50 for kittens, $10 for six months and older I believe, she is eight months old, all shots/spade/chipped for $10, not a bad deal at all, its my daughters early Christmas present

Nothing like a sale! You could get five of those cats for the price of a kitten! And cheaper than a kit yet!

Thought I'd check out the new Hobby Lobby by our new place. They just opened a week or two ago and got a 40% off coupon in the mail yesterday. So, I got the AMT Chevy Rescue Van for the 40% off and because my fingers aren't like they used to be, I got some Micro Stix adhesive tip applicators for gluing on tiny pieces.

Jonathan, a quick and easy way to train the new furball from staying away from where you don't want it (and to spare it's life  ) is go to the dollar store and get a spray bottle and fill it with water. I used this method when me and an ex had furballs, and it works great. She had suggested that when the furballs got near my model desk, just to spray them with a few squirts of water and since most cats hate water, that will train them to not go around that area because they will associate it with something unpleasant to them and they will avoid it. I also left the squirt bottle sitting on the corner of my desk as an extra deterrent because every now and then, one would try to sneak onto the desk, and as soon as they seen Daddy's squirt bottle, it would remind them it wasn't a place for kitty!

I used to keep a small kids dart gun handy many years ago with our first cat that we needed to teach to stay off of the kitchen counter. It didn't take her long to get the drift! :) Our latest cat however, wouldn't get the drift if you shot her with a crossbow! :D Steve

Forgive me for this, but the solution to a cat problem, is to just not have a cat..!!

Understandable Richard. Some people really don't like cats. Some don't care for dogs. Others just don't believe in pets in general. I just won't tolerate anything hairy in my shop!! Steve

I have nothing against cats Steve... I just won't have one. A very close friend's wife is a "cat lover" and they have 6 cats in the house...!!! That's down 2 from the 8 that they used to have. There is cat hair everywhere, even in the coffee cups in the cupboards..!! One or two of the cats go wherever they want... on the kitchen counters... on the dining room table..!! In addition, with 6 cats, they have 2 separate litter boxes which have to be emptied every day, or more, or else the house just..... well....... stinks. In addition, they have 3 dogs..!!!

I grew up with dogs and have had several during my married life. After having to put down a couple of them due to sicknesses, I don't want to have to go through that emotional trauma anymore. It's like putting down one of your children. No more pets for me at this stage of my life.

Stopped in at the local HTU just to browse.....$51 later I have another set of the AMT Polyglas tire sets, the SA Contest issue and the new Revell ZL1 prepainted kit.

I have had a mental block at the workbench and think knocking out the ZL1 and thumbing through the contest issue will give me a spark.

Rich, my aunt had several cats in her house but they was to fat to get on the counter and cat hair was in the ice trays. Could not eat there. Her problem was to many cats and house cleaning. I had one and never had any problems. Lost mine in the pet food problem in 07..
