The70judgeman Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 A couple off of Ebay. The Esprit Turbo is an open box, but all sealed inside. A replacement for another kit that seemed to grow legs and walked off on me. The shipper even wrapped the clear parts tree and put it in a plastic bag too. The Sport 300 is still factory sealed. Got both for decent prices.
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Postman droppd of an ebay impulse purchase. Original AMT 1958 Pontiac Bonneville convertible builtup. Hard to believe this thing is older than I am( not by much ) . It doesnt look like anything has ever been painted This will not be going in a box for a future build project. I've been wanting to get back to the model bench for over a year ,,and this is the one to do it . Nice score Bill! I picked mine up at a little roadside antique shop for $8.50 maybe 25 years ago. Builds into a fairly respectable model. Steve
gtx6970 Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Steve. Very nice. This has me looking for a 58 Buick as well. This will be the 1st replica stock build I've done in several years. Any recommendations on how to do the Pontiac lettering on the hood and decklid
horsepower Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 (edited) We had a family friend when I was younger (a lot younger) that bought a new '58 Bonneville, to a young car crazy pre teen it was the most beautiful thing on wheels, it was a metallic pinkish shade somewhat like the Evening Orchid that GM used in '65, if I remember right, but it was a looong time ago, the trim was either silver, or India Ivory, I'm leaning to the white. The main color is listed in the MCW catalog as 5819 Orchid. If you want to get your local bodyshop that has their own mixing station, the factory code was X, they actually might be able to mix up a touch up bottle in water base, or the original lacquer. With the envirobase you can top coat it with urethane for the deep show type finish. After looking at the colors I think I would go with the factory silver mist for a two tone color in the trim coves. Keep us updated I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with this one. cobraman Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Got these today at Hobby Lobby. Guess it was a Ford day. : )
cobraman Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Got this stuff in the mail today. Got a pretty good package deal on the 3 models ( I think ) . They are 1/43 and have only 20 to 22 pieces but lots of decals. I bought them to have something simple to build between other stuff or just to have something different. They do look pretty detailed and should look ok when done. The aluminum wheel discs are for the Salt Lake cars I have been building lately.
ChrisBcritter Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Builds into a fairly respectable model. Steve Understatement of the year...

Tony_B Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) Picked up AMT's '64 Marauder...nice kit, small box...maybe that's the size they used to be? Reissue from '95 from ERTL. Edited February 1, 2015 by Tony_B
disabled modeler Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Lotus was made many years before the Fiero Many of the Fieros had a Lotus rack and pinion steering in them...I change a few many years ago...talk about a pain.
ToyLvr Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Lotus was made many years before the Fiero As for the Fiero "look", I guess all I can say is " Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery". ;-) I had an '84 Fiero for a while. Fun to drive, but constant mechanical issues, so I got rid of it. Anyone thinking about buying a 1:1 Fiero should just stick to a 1:24 or 1:25 and save your money (IMHO).

I saw an auction for like 18.00 and 7.00 shipping for these 3 cars. I would love to see some pictures of whats inside of the boxes. Edited February 1, 2015 by jrherald420
cobraman Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I'm pretty sure these are from the auction you saw.
jrherald420 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Could you PM me some pictures of whats in the boxes? If its not too much trouble?

The script is so small & faint, it's tough! Steve
cobraman Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Could you PM me some pictures of whats in the boxes? If its not too much trouble? Here James. Posted here rather than a PM on the off chance someone else may be interested. This is just a sample from one of the kits.
lordairgtar Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 is it just me or do these lotuses look like slightly stretched pontiac fiero's?? sweet cars tho Or maybe the Fieros are just squashed Lotus Esprits.
The70judgeman Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I didn't even realize the slight resemblance to the Fiero. Just wish the Esprit V8 was in kit form too.

I didn't even realize the slight resemblance to the Fiero. Just wish the Esprit V8 was in kit form too. Never noticed any resemblance, other than the pop up headlights, wedgy shape and mid engine layout. I haven't seen an Esprit or Fiero in ages...
