Very nice!! Does your 288 GTO come with the huge sheet of photo etch parts?! -I have kit #9 and it does. Was just curious cause my nephew wants one, but cant find the one I have.

No P/E parts in it

Sooooo, are you going to open it ?????

.......you know, Bill, I will at some point, and when that day comes, I will post a kit review for all to enjoy. over the years, I have owned and built several of the cartoon box Johan kits.....but never this one. I know every piece in there, and i'll bet you do as well, but opening will happen at some point,,,,,the only problem is that I will be on a steady diet of KD and water for awhile after popping for this one...yikes...lol........the Ace......

He's been trying to sell that box and parts for a while now,,,,,,,. I've seen buildups with the box sell for about what he wants just for the scraps

IMO, its one of the harder Johan kits to find. Although I think the Johan 1970 Roadrunner is harder to find and usually brings more money.

I had an unbuilt maybe 10 years ago and like a fool sold it .  I've been looking for a decent builder for the past year or two,,,,, and have been unable to get one in my budget

It's funny how you seem to see the same stuff over & over again.

You'd think that they would get the drift after a while.

I keep stumbling across the same AMT '61 Bonneville convertible built up that's been on ebay for at least the past couple of years that the guy seems to think is worth $155.00!

I can't believe that he hasn't re-assessed that price after all this time with no takers.

On it's best day it may be worth $70.00.......maybe!

I know that feeling! :D

you know, Steve, I am just lately starting to look at buying vintage kits once again, as years ago in the 80s and 90s I had a very nice pile, until I sold mine off. I thought prices were stupid back then, but compared to current times, I'd RUN back to those days....lol....the Ace.....:o

I feel ya Ace!

That's why I've been doing my best to accumulate what I can over the past few years.

You think they're expensive now, try again in about another 5 or 10 years!

that's hard to say....a lot of the new, younger crowd are so tuned in to the kits from the last 10-15 years, they feel that the new stuff is better and of course, much cheaper . I have a feeling that when us old guys get even older, that market may change, but I could be wrong.  there are still deals out there if you shop hard, and, as you are surely aware, trading with other collectors can sometimes take the pain away if you have some nice traders in at a good price. however, my GTX did not fall into that category...but sometimes ya' gotta  throw caution to the wind and just jump in........its only money.......the Ace.......:D

I know the car/kit very well. And have had one or 2 over the years. At one time I had all 5 of the Cartoon box Johan Plymouth kits. But when a collector offered to buy them all l I couldnt say no. And out of the 5 the 1969 GTX is the one I wouldnt mind having back as an unbuilt if the price was right

I still have a bunch of the funnycar stuff from one , just not the kit or the box . I do have a decent builtup of both original issue  69 and 70 Roadrunners

Enjoy it , I sure would.

An Avanti, a '57 Ford wagon body, a Stude engine and a Lambo engine. I also got the molds for the GMC Astro 95 turbine engine.

-I should have enough Stude engines to be able to build the R3,R4 & R5 trio for my display stand in the FTB dio.

-The wagon body will grace my '57 which needs a redo.

As far as I remember, yes, though it's actually not paper.

back years ago, I have built all of them, except the 69 GTX, more than once. its funny how thru the years some of your favorites just elude you, and you just don't seem to get one. I had this kit once, back in the mid90s, but started, parts missing, broken, poor box...you know.....but just recently I am able to focus on trying to find the ones that mean a lot to me....actually, when I say I have never had one this good,,,thats wrong,,,i did for a day, maybe two...in Feb. 69 I actually bought this kit for my school friend for his birthday when he turned 14. we were both car and model freaks, and I had just ruined my 69 Road Runner kit , rushing thru it and getting disappointing results. Chuck said to me...don't worry, Ace...i'll get you another one for your birthday May 1st....so, with that, he got the GTX from me while I waited 2 more months for another 'Runner......lol............this type of story are reasons I am determined to get back 20 or 25 pieces that mean so much,,,,and may build them too.....best,,,the Ace........

I got a new lamp. My old drafting lamp's switch has died for the 2nd time. The first time I revived it w/ some Zap-A-Gap surprisingly! but it's broken again (lasted a few months!) so it's time to retire it and find a new drafting lamp...

Jesse, I just read this and I rolled around with laughter....lol...lol........because my old lamp has been glued, taped, bent, clamped, and even clothes pinned together for years....just don't want to part with it....I'd rather spend on kits...lol.....the Ace....:D

Ha, glad you got a kick out of that! physically my old lamp is still in fantastic shape, it's very old so there was no doubt it wouldn't physically last... just that the switch is plastic... and with a 75 watt bulb, apparently the heat cycles were too much for it in it's recent years. I used this lamp years ago as a kid for 10 years with no issues. But it only lasted me 3 years since I started building again.
