vintagercr Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Lucky to find Scott. I have a nice in Smug Bug in the box unbuilt I got 10 years ago and a built up Muscle Bug a couple years back and rebuilt it. I glued the 2 part body together. Ive seen this in person and it is a really nice build.
stitchdup Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Recently got these. I was pleasantly susprised by how stuffed the ford pick up box is (until I tried to get it all back in the box, lol) and the caddy came with some nicely rechromed bumpers to replace the tatty originals which were in the box too. I have to go to the post office later to pick up another box too
Mike999 Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Went to Hobby Lobby today and noticed they had the AMT Heavy Chevy 70 Impala marked down from 29.99 to 19.10. I had to bring it home with me as it was the last one on the shelf. Can't figure out though why it was marked down as the other models were regular price. Now I just wish they would get my Squad Rod Nova. Thanks, I always enjoy seeing what Hobby Lobby is doing in other parts of the country.I went to Hobby Lobby the same day you did, Thursday 2/16, in Anderson, SC. That store had 1 Heavy Chevy left, NOT marked down. I only saw one kit on clearance - the AMT '66 Ford Galaxie. The store had a pair of those - one sitting on the kit aisle, the other opened, re-sealed and in the Clearance aisle on the other side of the store. Both were marked down to $16.99. The re-sealed one felt sort of light, like it might be missing parts, so I passed.On-topic: after many years of good service, my old Aztek A470 airbrush finally croaked. I had taken it apart and fixed it several times over the years. I really like that airbrush for general use and have another one for super-fine work (SOTAR 20/20). Michael's had the A470 in stock and I got it with a 40% off coupon. Still expensive, but probably cheaper than buying it online and paying shipping.
PatW Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 I have been hunting this one for a long, long time. I finally got a good e-bay price on one. The e-bay pic Hosted on Fotki The box showed up today. Marked FRAGILE - good. Looks like a smaller box surrounded by packing - good. Pick up the smaller box - the model drops out the open end wrapped in a plastic grocery bag. Parts follow. Poop. Broken axel, driving lights and nerf bars. The seller was doing so well. He just failed to wrap the model before putting in a 6-sided inner box (instead of an open ended box).So much for putting this one straight on the shelf. I'll have a little more repair to do. I knew it was missing one exhaust trumpet, but I also have the make the rear end cover and headlight lenses. Hosted on FotkiI know the risks of buying built models; I'm still thrilled have to have it. It will be fairly easy too take apart and restore. Oh dear I had one of these over 20 years ago, great big thing!
gtx6970 Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Wow, won another one over the weekend . Wasnt really looking for another vert ( I have a pretty nice one already ) . But I threw a bid on it the last for minutes thinking I would get outbid at the last minute. Got up today only to find out I won the thing. It looks like a pretty decent builder in the pics

Daddyfink Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 So, there was a Comic Book show this weekend here in San Diego and my little Brother went to check it out, next thing I know, he is sending me pics of vintage kits! So, he picked up the Dyno Don Pinto for me and I went today to grab some more. The deal was that all boxes where $20, and whatever was in it, just came with it. So, after digging around and sadly leaving some choice stuff behind, here is what I got. The Pinto is missing parts, but, there are two bodies in the kit and it was never touched otherwise. I grabbed the Monaco mostly for the box as mine is in sad shape, but, the box is holding three bodies. No chassis for any of them and lots of loose parts The Ford Mach ! is all there. Some work was done, but it can be cleaned up and fixed
Daddyfink Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 (edited) 65 Barracuda, and there are two in the box! Built up but restoreable Jo Han Rebel SST that was in a Javeling box. I found the Javelin AMX in another box, funny car build, but I was out of spending cash by now. MPC 69 Coronet R/T Funny Car in a 65 Mustang Box. Apparently this is the STP SuperHemi Edited February 21, 2017 by Daddyfink
Daddyfink Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 (edited) Dyno Don box with a Jo Han 69 GTX Funny Car in it! And funny chassis for the Rebel SST and some extra stuff! MPC 74 Dodge Pick Up. Mostly complete and missing the bike. I found the bike later, but, it was in another box and he would not let me move it over, unless I bought that box as well AMT 1966 Impala box with two of them in it! They are both mostly complete and very restorable! And finally, an AMT 67 Ford Falcon that is mostly complete and quite restoreable. It is rare to score like this, but when it happens, do let it pass you by! Edited February 21, 2017 by Daddyfink

Johnt671 Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I got these at Michaels in Hazleton PA today. They have one left on the shelf.
StevenGuthmiller Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I grabbed the Monaco mostly for the box as mine is in sad shape, but, the box is holding three bodies. No chassis for any of them and lots of loose parts Oh, sure! I've been looking for one of these at a decent price for quite a while now. Now I come to find out that I'm having difficulty finding one because they're all crammed into one box! What else is included for parts Jesse? I would surely be interested in one if you have 3 that are mostly complete. Steve
1930fordpickup Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Jo Han Rebel SST that was in a Javeling box. I found the Javelin AMX in another box, funny car build, but I was out of spending cash by now. 1967 Rambler Rebel could have drove one of these in high school but I was a fool and turned my nose up at the beater. It was a 6 cylinder 3 on the tree but it needed a ton of work. They are better looking cars than I remember back 30 some years ago. It was an elderly lady around the corners car until my brother purchased it from her. The car was in a wreck and full of mud. They could not find parts for it , no internet back then.
gtx6970 Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Got a set of original seats for my MPC 1969 Coronet from Ron Hamilton. Great guy .Thanks Ron, I owe you 1,,,or 2 actually .
Snake45 Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I got these at Michaels in Hazleton PA today. They have one left on the shelf. My Michaels had three or four of them. At first I was happy because I thought they were the rare and desirable '30s. Ah shucks oh well.
58 Impala Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 (edited) Found one of the elusive 30 Model A coupes at a Hobby Lobby outside of Dallas while visiting my family over the weekend. Went to the store with the hopes of one being on the shelf, and there was one left. Edited February 22, 2017 by 58 Impala
PatW Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Now this is different! It'll look good on a roof rack or trailer in 1/52 scale!
gtx6970 Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 I picked up 2 packs of the plastic spoons over the weekend at the dollar store at $1 a pack of 100 spoons per pack , I'm set for a while
smhardesty Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 I got started buying again, and couldn't stop for a bit. Got a few I really wanted and a few that I just couldn't refuse. These 4 came from one place. Got a bundle deal.
smhardesty Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Then got these first two for myself on eBay, and the bottom two I picked up for my grandson. Gotta keep his stash going too.
