Codi Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Mark, what a way to wrap up the year with it's completion. The entire thread has been inspiring to follow. What are you going to do for your next build if I may ask? Happy New Year! Tim
Scale-Master Posted December 26, 2014 Author Posted December 26, 2014 Thanks Tim. This one won't be finished this year. Maybe in a couple months or so.I think I'll make a '73 Camaro next, but not to this caliber.
Scale-Master Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 I made the worm drives for the radiator hose clamps and added the front brake soft lines. Looks a little dusty…
Scale-Master Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 The worm screws for the fuel lines (and other smaller diameter low pressure hoses) were even more fun to make. My camera is having a difficult time capturing them.
sjordan2 Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Good Lord. Is there a Lotus/Caterham museum for this?
Nacho Z Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 There is a mantra used in modeling circles that says to treat every part or sub-assembly as a model itself. You are one of the few who actually accomplish this. Every part on this masterpiece has been subjected to your amazing touch. Well done!
Scale-Master Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 Thank you guys! I finally finished painting the hood, ironic to me since it is the last main body part, and the first part I made for it.
NormL Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I check in with this build every once in a while and all I can say is I am staggered! The ingenious ways that I see you create parts. My eyes are still ringing with reading that you made your own worm gears for the hose clamps ... I get the feeling that if I left you alone with some iron ore, bauxite, nylon and rubber, I would come back to a completed car and not be surprised if it could run
Scale-Master Posted January 10, 2015 Author Posted January 10, 2015 Thanks Norm, that is very kind of you to say. Gear shifter. 2.25 inch diameter ball. Same size as a pool ball… Ready for paint.
Tony T Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Stunning work, Mark...it sure is coming together! Thanks, for sharing this build and your skills...fabulous!
Scale-Master Posted January 15, 2015 Author Posted January 15, 2015 Thanks guys, glad to share... I added an indent for the license plate so I could add a light for it.
stump Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Mark, this is nearing a very sad stage mate....... Before we realize, you will have this masterpiece sitting on your shelf and the updates will dry up..... But, until then, I am savoring every update and enjoying them immensely, thank you.
Scale-Master Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 Thanks for the kind thoughts and words Greg! 7 Ball shift knob.
Scale-Master Posted January 19, 2015 Author Posted January 19, 2015 The hood has been final waxed and buffed. I installed the under hood blanket and added a little dusty dirt to the underside too. I still need to add the tabs to the latches but will do that later since they are delicate as (I learned from knocking them off the nose piece).
cobraman Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I admire your dedication to this project as well as the talent to pull it off to this level of detail. I have enough trouble just trying to do a decent looking model using kit pieces.
Foxer Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 That shift knob has put me on my knees in adoration. )) Totally enjoying you taking us through this wonder .. ")
Scale-Master Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Thanks guys, glad you are enjoying it too. The rear panel and taillights are shaping up…
sjordan2 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Continually unbelievable. I'd love to see what you would do with a vintage street car.
Scale-Master Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Continually unbelievable. I'd love to see what you would do with a vintage street car.Thanks. And I've already done that. It's in my garage under a cover begging to be driven more.
Scale-Master Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 This is the license plate and back-up light. It has a clear lens with white fluting on the inside.
Danno Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Stupendous! Mark, your work just constantly bankrupts the vocabulary.
Scale-Master Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 Thanks Dan! The tail light panel is almost all wired up and a bit of dusty dirt has been added. I’m not sure this will even be visible once installed.
