Custom Hearse Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 This is cool! http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/lyonheart-k-creates-21st-century-e-type-moneyed-163926367.html
Harry P. Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Oh man... I love it! LOVE it! And that dash is so perfect... a beautiful update of the original. Very nicely done. Just two complaints. One, get rid of the silly scoop business on the sides and you'll clean up the design 100%. And two... the price!
Custom Hearse Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 I agree 1000% Harry! This is probably the best "retro look" I have ever seen. I also agree the side scoops kinda throw it off as well. As for the price... I guess I'll be a dreamer...
FASTBACK340 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I'm in love with the coupe...... That is one slinky-sleek sweetie. Wow......
TooOld Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 That is gorgeous ! Best retro - design of any car yet ! The E - type has always been one of the only British cars I've ever liked . Now , I need to build a 1/25th scale version .
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 (edited) A slight rework of this 2011 Bo Zolland concept, I believe...... Edited March 21, 2013 by Ace-Garageguy
FASTBACK340 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Stop it, your killing me! What a great redesign of a great design.
Harry P. Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 If Jaguar offered that car right now at a realistic price, I'd go out tomorrow and buy one.
Matt Bacon Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 (edited) Too fussy for my tastes -- it looks like a Chrysler Crossfire put through a blender with an XKR. Personally, if I was in the market for a modern take on an E-type, I'd much prefer an Eagle Speedster... (which I would have in a heartbeat if I had the money) bestest, M. Harry P. Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 There! Fixed it. I want one. Really, reeeeeeeally want one.
Cato Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 OK for this day and age retros but I'd prefer Heritage's restoration of a Series 1 original. Stuck in the sixties...........
Custom Hearse Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 Thanks Harry!!! That looks a lot better!
jeffs396 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Love it! Looks like a good excuse to pick up the old inaccurate Monogram 1/24 XKE and start modifying to create one of these in scale
58 Impala Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 That coupe is absolutely beautiful! I wouldn't change a thing, I think the scoops add a modern flair to a classic design.
Foxer Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 You're right, Harry. It doesn't need that scoop .. take $10,000 off for that and maybe it's affordable!
JM485 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 That is a very nice design, they really captured to look perfectly. Everything flows well and has a great overall sleekness to it.
jbwelda Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) edit: never mind, i actually looked at the original postings link and see this is an aftermarket thing costing upwards of half million, so never mind... Edited March 22, 2013 by jbwelda
Harry P. Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 i think this new e type is probably 80K or so, but thats a total SWAG. Coupe $466,000, convertible $485,00. Just a tiny bit over 80K.
jbwelda Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 i revised my post above after i actually read the original link. aftermarket trash is what i now think. expensive aftermarket trash.
Casey Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I always thought the original XKE was ill-proportioned, with the hood/fenders too long, the rearend too stubby, and those pizza-thin (sorry, Harry, not Chicago style) tires and spoked wheels always looked so old fashioned. Maybe it'd look better if someone shortened it a foot?

Maybe it'd look better if someone shortened it a foot? I like thin crust, too! To me, this updated version looks just right (except for the too-busy side scoops, which I would delete). But the price is just outrageous.
