Don't think I've ever seen the MPC large scale C2 Corvettes, only familiar w/ the Revell ones. That stock '63 looks sweet to me.

The Shaker version was issued only once, and MPC didn't use that feature in any other kits...so in all likelihood it didn't go over well. The basic 'Vette kit is quite good. It was reported in the old CAR MODEL magazine that the MPC kit is patterned after the Monogram 1/8 scale '65 Corvette. The parts breakdown of the two are fairly similar. Not too many more parts than a 1/25 scale kit (less than some), not too tough to assemble. The first issue (prior to the Shaker) was supposed to have a pre-painted body (it's described in the catalog that way) but that feature didn't make it into the kit.

so how good is the detail on the vette? as good as the 1/16 Cobra?

Very similar. You can check out the parts breakdown via the instruction sheet here: http://modelkitreviews.proboards.com/thread/979/mpc-3052-shaker-vette

All of those extra, specially designed parts and pieces for this specific issue to allow the motor to operate inside the engine block remind me of the functioning body lift parts in the 1/12 Mean Maverick. I doubt the added cost and complexity was recouped by MPC.

Whats the point digging up 5 year old threads , especially when there is nothing in the beginning of the op to give a clue as to what the thread is about

Here's a decent look at how the electric motor mounted inside the SBC on the 1/16 MPC Shaker Vette kit:

Is the engine soft mounted, or does the whole car shake?

Ideally, the latter. Here's a look at the eccentric cam which provided the imbalance, and put the shake in Shaker. Part #77, the offset cam, would be hidden inside the bellhousing once assembled:

So where did the batteries go? I assume a big hole where the spare tire sits.

However, wiring template doesn't leave much length for anywhere but the front wheel well.
