Brett Barrow Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 (edited) It's supposed to have a newly-tooled bench seat, along with a few other goodies. Not sure if it'll have decals for both of Grump's 66 Novas, the red and white one shown (destroyed in a towing accident) or the white one that replaced it. I'll add more info as I find out more. *edit* it will have both. It was also most appropriate that I got my copy of Grumpy's Toys in the mail today... Edited May 6, 2013 by Brett Barrow
hvymtl Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Very good book have been reading it lately myself. but cool info on the Nova Michael
gtx6970 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Figures, I just picked up the decals to do this car maybe 3 weeks ago
1972coronet Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I'm digging the so-called "Faux-Retro" box art , and the new parts ( bench seat , steelies , etc.). I just hope that it includes a truly retro piece from this kit's 1988 origins : the moulded-onto-the-windshield interior rear view mirror !
Rob Hall Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 (edited) I like the phantom retro box art...they've also done '67 and '69 kits this way, maybe they will do something '68 style (one of my favorite years of vintage AMT box art)...maybe the El Camino. Edited April 30, 2013 by Rob Hall
Edsel-Dan Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Will this have the Stock parts?? If so, I might want one. (Though I still have not finished the original issue stock of this kit!!)
Rob Hall Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 (edited) Will this have the Stock parts?? If so, I might want one. (Though I still have not finished the original issue stock of this kit!!) Says 'Build Drag, Stock or Custom' on the box art in the photo... Edited April 30, 2013 by Rob Hall
Dave Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Will this have the Stock parts?? If so, I might want one. (Though I still have not finished the original issue stock of this kit!!) Looks like the end panel of the box says "Stock, Custom or Drag", Looks Promising!
John Pol Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Now all they have to do is bring out some of the old pro stocks and we will be all set. John Pol
Brett Barrow Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 (edited) I'd guess that it will at least restore the kit back to it's original 2 n' 1 version - and probably get rid of some of the Pro Street parts in the current issue. Round 2 has only done the Pro Street version since they took over. To be accurate it'll need a little "de-SSing", mainly getting rid of the SS badge in the grille, but I'll live if they don't. It'd be cool if they did, though. Edited April 30, 2013 by Brett Barrow
mikemopar70 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Did i see a benchseat on the side of the box???
Rob Hall Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Did i see a benchseat on the side of the box??? That's what it says...
mikemopar70 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Wow! Another one i must buy!!!! :-) It looks that it will have steel wheels too... Some interesting new stuff, more interesting than the last "RIDES" reissue!!!
Jantrix Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Another ataboy for Round2 in my book. They sure have their target buyers figured out.
Nitro Neil Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 (edited) I hate the 66 Chevy Nova, but Round2 will get a sale out of me just by adding the decals. They're like drug pushers. Edited April 30, 2013 by Nitro Neil
gtx6970 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 (edited) SSDI in the October 1966 issue - has an article with lots of details on this car . I can post it if wanted or allowed. ps, can one just take the back seat and add a back side filler to make a bench seat? I have a few of the pro street versions I can rob the back seat out of to do so,,,, but the seat bun part looks kind of short to me . Edited April 30, 2013 by gtx6970
Blown03SVT Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 One of my favorite kits of all time. I am sort of under the assumption that the P/S 66 Nova and the Stock SS are different tools. I have built both and I know that MCG has a really nice photo etch fret for this kit as well. I might have to pick this up.
Mike Chernecki Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Has Round2 fixed the body? I have several originals that are awesome. I picked up one of the last releases before Round2 took over and it was garbage. The body was misaligned in many places, the worse was the front fender sides were recessed 1/16" at the mold line and severely warped.
VERNON Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Fantastic...What a great release. Ronud 2 is really taking care of my spare lunch money. Oh well, I need to lose some weight anyhow. Bring on the Pro-Stocks.
Chuck Kourouklis Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 (edited) Oh yeah. Stoked. Couldn't think of a better way for them to do this reissue - almost exactly 25 years from its debut, no less... Edited April 30, 2013 by Chuck Kourouklis
Brett Barrow Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 Interesting that the box doesn't call it an SS. I'm hoping it's not. Real car wasn't. Pro Street kit is quite a bit different, but I think there are some shared parts. Both had the display SBC, right? Been a long time since I saw one of the originals. I hope Pro Stocks, Super Stocks, and Junior Stocks are going to be hot subjects for a while...
Chuck Kourouklis Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Yeah, why not. We got previous issues for the SS. They actually tool up a rearview mirror for this one, too, it's golden.
george 53 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 I gotta coupla them, but I like the bench and steelies, so I'll probably get a couple more! LoL!
