wagonguy1989 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Here is my recently finished 37 ford pickup.... this is the MOST box stock build i have ever done LOL (first finished model of 2013) But not all box stock 1. Custom scratchbuilt intake manifold design (w built in electric superchargers) 2. Converted to fuel injection 3. Newer style distributor (scratchbuilt) 4. FULL msd ignition; blaster coil, 6AL box, distributor (all wired up properly) 5. Converted to OBD1 computer system 6. Str8 pipes! Basically my design is... surf shop bought old rusty pickup, slapped on nice paintjob, upgraded engine for better fuel economy, all brand new suspension for better ride, slapped on a set of aluminum rims (about 16 or 17 inch scale) with slicks! now on to pictures!
wagonguy1989 Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 couple more i thought i had some of the interior but... its a simple blue and tan with all the details lol... (hard to take a pic of this interior)
lazlow Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 oh man that is so cool , love the graphics, and that board looks like real wood. Under the hood looks great to but the best part for me has to the rust on the bottom, thats great just like real STREET rods we had Laz
afx Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Very nice build John. The wheels/tire & stance are perfect. Are the wood sideboards & bed decal or paint? Love the shark on the hood/roof.
wagonguy1989 Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 thanks for the comments guys!! lazlow you definately got the theme i was going with! lol JC, all the wood (including the surf board) is all kit supplied decals .... its my first time ever laying down wood grain decals lol, normally would just do a custom tonau cover... i cant remember where i got these wheels... ive tried them on about 6 other projects but only this one looks rite haha oh and the best thing about the decently shiny finish is..... no clear coat .... and not even polished !!! just a simple primer and color paintjob! (rustoleum automotive paint) any other questions/comments gladly welcome!
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 That looks really cool... The rusting looks great!
TheRX7Project Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 oh man that is so cool , love the graphics, and that board looks like real wood. Under the hood looks great to but the best part for me has to the rust on the bottom, thats great just like real STREET rods we had Laz This FOR SURE! I can't believe how much more real it "feels" having the underside "not so perfect".
wagonguy1989 Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 This FOR SURE! I can't believe how much more real it "feels" having the underside "not so perfect". thats right! i saw an article in a mag... it sparked my interest lol.... i bought the weathering kit yrs ago and only used it about twice haha did some on this one... loved the way it came out...

JasonFL Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Really cool build. Love the placement of all the decals and the rust on the bottom makes it feel like a real daily driver. Nice work
Ramfins59 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Nice clean build John. Are those slicks on the front wheels too.??
Ford guy Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Man John, that's a really nice build! Nice detail on the bottom of it. Very cool!
Tom Geiger Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Nice chassis work. I always weather mine, some a little and some a lot, depending on the story of the car I've modeled. Note that every car, other than a polished show car, has some degree of wear on the underside. Even cars being unloaded from the truck at the dealership have toning on exhaust, some rust on bolt heads and some dirt from rain. A little bit of toning and wear on the average running car.... To trashed rust bucket.
