realgone58 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Finished up another BMF nightmare today. It's a JoHan X-EL reissue promo I've had since the mid eighties. Chrome was worn almost all the way off, so I refinished the bumpers with Alclad. The rest is the original Spring Green/Dawn Grey finish that I buffed and waxed. These promos had no interiors, and as far as I know, no one has made one for these 4 door hardtops. If you put it up high in the case, nobody notices......
Harry P. Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Man, that is one slick looking Mopar! Nice! PS: Love the outdoor shots.
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Wow. Cool DeSoto, and I really REALLY admire your BMF work.
Yahshu Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Cool Mopar, you could say that it's still been restored & has to have the interior done.
W-Machine Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Nice to see a four-door. That body polished up real nice.
charlie8575 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 This is another one I wish someone would start making in resin, with an interior, and use the AMT '57 300 chassis for the under-carriage, with your choice of B-series engine. Very nicely done. Charlie Larkin
PARTSMARTY Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 VERY NICE-VERY CLEAN-VERY COOL-VERY EVERYTHING-CONGRATS.!!!
TFchronos Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I've always liked the cars of the 50's, this one is no different. Stunning job on it!
Guest Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Nicely done Al! You definitely have the touch for those factory stock builds! I've seen some of the other Jo Han promos on ebay. But, I always pass on them due to lack of an interior.

Very nicely done. Charlie Larkin I agree. However, I think the '59 Dodge interior with dash and steering wheel in resin from MH can be adapted to use in these 4 doors. You'd have to modify a few things. Dash isn't exactly the same, but it too can be modified. The good thing is, if anyone ever does do interiors for these, it can be installed in no time. Three little plastic push pins hold this thing together. Oh, and thanks for all the nice comments.
Chuck Most Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Very nice! Odd that I just posted in the Wanted section looking for one of these...
realgone58 Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Very nice! Odd that I just posted in the Wanted section looking for one of these... I just noticed that too, Chuck. I replied over there.
