Len Woodruff Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Just heard that Revell is coming out with a new tool 69 Nova.
Zoom Zoom Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 In keeping with their latest cost-cutting tradition they are basing it off of the old 1/24 Monogram '69 Camaro tool, so it can be proportionate to the AAR and all of their other 1/24 musclecars. They'll revise it slightly in 2019, but it will still be wrong. Look for extensive how-to's featuring all the fixes necessary (combining Revell '69 Nova, AMT '72 Nova, and the AMT Ventura...all necessary for the kitbash) for you to have your own '69 Nova that actually looks like a '69 Nova. Wow, it's like April 1 all over again
GMP440 Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Great news on the 69' Chevy Nova. But, do we need another 57' Chevy? That horse has been beat to death for so many years. How about a 68' or 69' Dodge Coronet R/T?
Zoom Zoom Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I don't mind seeing the Black Widow; I was given an AAM version last year and all the stuff to make it right by a fellow club member (intake, FI, interior decals, etc.) and was just about to start it in hopes of having it for our NNL next month. I think I'll wait now, but the Black Widow will be a good subject because of the bodystyle, custom options (in 150 trim), and of course they should exploit the stock car aspect as much as possible. It'll make Revell plenty of money to fund other models. I far prefer the 150 body to the more popular Bel Air HT. I can't believe we haven't had a '57 Bel Air CV kit...but then again, once the Black Widow is made it will be a bit easier down the road...
gasman Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 awesome news on the 69 Nova, I was hoping someone would tool up a good 69 Nova. The AMT kit is'nt bad....just very tired. any news on the Challenger. hopefully its the production car and not the concept.
bandit.93 Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 i think that revell should birng back the ferrari f50.
Rob Hall Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Nice to hear about the Nova..should go well with their '69 Camaros and '68 Firebird. Any word on other new for '08 issues? I'd love to see the new Challenger kitted. For muscle cars, I'd love to see them do a '70 GTO Judge or a '68 Dodge Super Bee...
dustym Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Now a 69 Nova is a kit I would by a lot of. I have had 3 1:1's Nova's and still have a '70' that I have torn apart.
Rob Hall Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I think the Nova is incredibly great news. Given the popularity of this generation of Novas, I am amazed that someone hasn't taken this leap before now, seeing as how the AMT kit was never all that great to begin with. (Why did AMT feel the need to mold the front fenders separately, anyway?) I would assume AMT did the fenders separately so the body could be shared with the Ventura II kit.. Yes, the new Nova kit is definitely a welcome addition.
dub Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 This is one I would buy! I know they're different, but my parents had a '73 with a 305in it. It was red with a white vinyl top. It's close enough I could build it the way I would have done it. IF.... That's IF Revell gets the lines right!
VictorSmalls Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I'm looking forward to the 69 Nova as well. When it hits the shelves I would love to do a "blue hair" sleeper version based off the MuscleCar TV project. I love Nova sleepers
MrObsessive Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 IF.... That's IF Revell gets the lines right! I hear ya Jonathan! Please Revell, please make this one as right as rain! A whole bunch of us "Lunatic Fringers" (and beyond) WANT this kit badly! Now about the '57 Black Widow.............I wonder if Revell is going to base this off the '56 bodyshell.........or will they tool up an all new kit? The Del Ray has the correct roof for the Black Widow, but the lower body naturally is totally different. Maybe like they're doing with '55 hardtop, it's probably a modified reissue. I also I hope the 283 has the correct FI manifold..........they were a bit different than what the Corvette used for '57.
Lyle Willits Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 The new Revell '69 Nova is shown as 1/25th scale so, hopefully, the Model Car Garage photoetch sets will fit correctly which will allow '68 - '72 conversions.
Phil Patterson Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 (edited) not so much the 69, as I hate that triple tail light treatment on the 69 R/T) Bite your tongue!! Seriously though, I'd be happy if they could find the tooling for the old Mission Impossible 69 R/T convertible. I had one back in the day and it was possible to build it stock. The only real problem and I may be wrong on this was the non-stock tonneau cover, but they could probably use one from the AMT 69 GTX convertible. I think Revell doing the 69 Nova is a great idea. AMT did the 64 and 63 Impala before Revell did theirs and that doesn't seem to have affected sales. I just hope someone eventually does a 4 door sedan in resin based on this Revell kit so I can duplicate my sister's 69 Nova she had when she first got married. kurth Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Of course it is true. It took me a long time to track down and get an AMT nova
jbwelda Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 i would be the last one in the world to applaud a new 55 - 57 cheby kit, but in this case i am very pleased to hear about this black widow. now just hopefully its correct and doesnt sport some bling donk wheels for the youth market! i actually cant wait to see this on the shelves. anyway hooray on the nova but i would like an accurate 63 or 64 nova with a six or a 283! is there even such a thing or are all of them altered wheelbase drag machines?

Trumpeter's only good car kit IMHO is their '63 Nova HT w/6 cyl. engine. They botched their Nova CV windshield frame (it's way too tall). Get the HT and you'll have a really nice Nova kit.
Daniel Peterson Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I see a couple members here who seem to know this is going to happen...but not having seen anything on the Nova yet, I'm a little behind the curve. Where did the news come from? Are there any more details to be had? A correctly proportioned new tool 69 Nova would break sales records for Revell. If it does come out, my 15-year-old can pretty much forget getting a car at 16. And eatiing, for that matter...the grocery budget will merely be collateral damage. I can stand to lose a few pounds anyway. Oh, to have a 30" waist again... I had a 69 Nova when I was single the last time...light jade metallic, Corvette rally wheels...gentle rake. Pretty car. I miss it, and a scale model of it would be job #1. Then every version of Nova I ever saw and fell in love with would be jobs #2 through about #999!!

Daniel Peterson Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 It was announced at the Hobby Show in Chicago. Okay...I am now officially a happy camper. Thank you. I'll just wait impatiently from here on out.
sunny Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Hello everybody. The Nova is somme good news. Maybe not amazing fantastic good news, but still good. Just hope Revell will release something REALLY original next year...
gasman Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 here some more glue kits finally we get the 87 Cutlass. and it will be plastic. I will finally be able to build an 87 Hurst Cutlass. woohoo. and i've been waiting three years for Revell to convert the excellent Subie WRX Diecast to plastic. almost bought the diecast several times. the 68 Mustang, 70 Chellenger are both former diecasts. as well as the 87 Buick, notice it says 1:25 scale. that means its the never issued diecast. which replicates a mainstreamer Buick Regal. not the GNX that the 1:24 kit is. serprised noones mentioned the new Mustangs. 08 GT500 (which was originally a wheels of fire kit. that was canceled, this one will be full detail i'm guessing) and the 07 GT350h. and lastly. the new Audi R8 will be in a Revell USA box. yes. means I won't have to pay $30 for the Revell AG one (although i'm guessing the R8 will be in the $20 range, as well as most of the other kits)
Mr. Metallic Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Why do so many people feel the need to be so negative around here? many of you are already ripping on kits that probably aren't even cut into tooling yet. Yes, i realize the industry is not doing great right now, but why rip apart these announcements? While the subjects may not be exactly what YOU want, they look like solid ideas that should provide money for other tooling. I just don't understand this mentality.

It's like having a kid who was getting D's in school study hard and begin getting C's and B's and then ripping them for not getting A's. The manufacturing picture is in such a state of flux, there's bound to be some good and bad mixed together. I'm not taking a position of complacency and accepting anything they do as a sign of improvement, but I'm happy with some of what I'm seeing. It can get better, but in some ways it already is. Orders and sales are going to keep momentum headed in the right direction, and impact what gets re-issued or new-tooled. The Merc, and other Revell issues are looking good to me. The Nova, flathead Tudor, and 57 are not exactly bad news, now are they? Negativity is a part of life, but so is encouragement and positive thinking. Let's try to balance the mix a little, huh guys?
PatRedmond Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 (edited) Not to anyone here personally, just an 'Open Letter' type response: Sad to say, but we live in a selfish and egocentric world. People fail to grasp that these releases are not just for THEM, but the WHOLE WORLD ! ANYTHING being released these days is a bonus. If it's not for you, fine, but quit whining about it. You're bringing the REST of us down. Quityerbitching, OK? I'll be buying what I like, and those offers look good to me. Edited October 20, 2007 by PatRedmond
