mangodart Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Hi guys, so here is my latest, a 73 Javelin from Johan, the Snap kit model. It's kind of simple build, I just pick up the wheels from the AMT Gremlin kit, the mirror are from the AMT Challenger . The gold stripe is from a Fred Cady decals. This kit was a glue bomb when I got it, so I first have to restore it first, put some BMF on the chrome 'cause the quality of the Johan chrome is not that nice, especially when the base styrene is green..... The color is From the AMC color chart, it's called " Fresh Plum Metallic ", I use 2 spray can to have this result which is as close as possible from the reality, first some red paint, then some plum metallic, without waiting the red to dry. Well, so here are the pics, enjoy :
mangodart Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 Another pic to finish.... Hope you'll like it
'70 Grande Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Emmanuel, That is a very nice "save" of a gluebomb built-up! That paint color looks excellent on this build! Your choice for using the Gremlin's wheels was a good one also; excellent build!
Porscheman Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Beautiful build!!! Those wheels are so much better than the star mags that came with the kit.
PappyD340 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Very nice build, what exactly is the car sitting on, is it concrete? It actually looks like beach sand!!
mangodart Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 Thanks, no actually it's a wood board in which I put a product I bought to Micro Mark long time ago wich is supposed to look like tar.. well I let you judge on this point
bbowser Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Nice. Great color, like the wheel choice. Excellent save.
realgone58 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Very nice! I love that color on these. You did fantastic replicating it.
Sixties Sam Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Emmanuel, that's a great build of a seldom seen muscle car! The paint looks really good! Nice work! Sam
charlie8575 Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Interesting color combination- nice choice. Charlie Larkin
Maindrian Pace Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Great restoration, color, and wheel choice, and the car sits just right. I like your photo surface, it looks like smooth graded dirt with tire tracks. Very realistic. -MJS
satterwhite78 Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Awesome looking build and a great save form a Glue bomb death!
Austin T Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 (edited) Very nice, I have this same kit and plan on making an Alabama state trooper Javelin out of it. Edited June 9, 2013 by Austin T
