Porscheman Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) This T Bird started life as the Big Al Allison kit and was converted to a bone stock Thunderbird. Interior is from a 67 gluebomb T Bird kit and a 68 promo chassis. The car was painted body shop mixed Ford Jade Green with black interior and 2 coats of Testors Wet Look Clear. The vinyl top was made with 3M Masking Tape and a black Sharpie. The windows were tinted with a light coat of Tamiya's clear blue. A lot of work went int this to get a stock Thunderbird Coupe, but worth it. Let me know how it looks. Al Edited July 18, 2013 by Porscheman
sjordan2 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Amazing work. Who would have thought this to be possible?

Porscheman Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 Al, Congrats on a Super job...will it be making an appearance at the meeting ? Pete Pete, This will be there tomorrow night, if it doesn't melt in the car on the ride down. This is an easy build if you have all the right parts. Thanks everyone. Al
Harry P. Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Gotta say that 'bird looks a whole lot better as a stocker than as a funny car! Nice work!
SSNJim Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Very nice! That's my favorite Thunderbird year. My dad bought a 69 brand new, and we had the car a long while. I drove it quite a few times into the 80's. You did a good job. The little chrome strips on the hood/trunk areas and the taillight panel are areas I found to be pretty difficult. I picked up a few of those kits after I discovered the basically stock body in it. The first one is going to be a mild custom, but needs the paint redone. I'm using the interior and chassis from the 71 TBird. The interior is similar and will fit, but requires modifications to the panel shelf. The body is stock, but is missing the emblems on the C-pillars. The 71 is much easier to find than a 68. The taillights on the body are not stock and are meant for the custom version; Modelhaus carries the stock ones. The Modelhaus taillights fit over the "custom" taillights. Sorry if I hijacked your thread; I'm just thrilled to see your model.
Sixties Sam Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Great conversion! It looks good in the dark green color. Nice work! Sam

Dominik Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Gotta say that 'bird looks a whole lot better as a stocker than as a funny car! Nice work! x2 ! like it. i sold my "Big Al Allison" funny car....if you posted that before, thats a very good idea to hold it in the shelf.
Porscheman Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 Thanks guys for the nice comments I hated this kit as a kid, but when I saw a you tube video on it and found out the body was stock. I knew I had to try. I may try another in Diamond Green Next. Al
Lovefordgalaxie Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Nice choice you did, and great result. Not a fan of funny cars myself. Like cars in stock configuration.
