Tom Geiger Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Having multiple topics discussing the same thing doesn't help anyone either, so this is one case where we'll have to agree to disagree. That's well and good in the case where two people start a BMF question thread at the same time... the ones I refer to are the ones where you find a 5-10 year old thread, and pop the current thread at the end of it. Then you've got an old thread where many of the pictures are no longer available, which at best makes that part difficult to follow without the illustrations. If it's a long one, then nobody is going back to read all 8 pages, so they start posting things over again anyway. As far as moderating the board, it's pretty much like volunteering to be a bouncer at the Full Throttle Saloon on bike week! I also do a lot for the hobby and despite our best intentions, we get constantly pummeled too. So I understand the frustration.
Tom Geiger Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Ah, I see Casey just moved one of my posts from a current thread to a year old thread just to illustrate his point.
Tom Geiger Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) and my irk of the day... dealing with a specific mortgage company! I usually pay my mortgage through my on-line banking. In December, I decided to pay it on the mortgage company's website. Big mistake. My January statement showed the payment made on time. My February statement showed my January payment made on time. Suddenly I get a letter from them stating that my bank reversed the payment because "I refused it". I call their toll free number and get some screaming Indian woman yelling at me "You no pay your bills!" I go to my bank and they have no record of this transaction at all. My banker and I call the mortgage company together and they admit that they were changing over their computer systems and it was their error, and I should make the missing payment again as soon as I could. So I did. At the same time I notice that they've started to add a $14.95 a month charge under "additional products". I ask and I'm told that I signed up for some bogus homeowner referral service (sounds like an Angie's List type thing). I tell them I didn't sign up to buy anything from them and they give me no satisfaction other than they'll stop the charge that month, but only if I request it in writing. I go to the Internet and there are two full pages on Google links of complaints about this and other consumer fraud caused by this company. I get my March statement and it's full of late fees and interest charges. Then to add to ticking me off, today I get a certified letter from them stating that they are going to foreclose! So they are getting one heck of a letter complete with all the exhibits. I am going to copy the banking regulatory authorities since they have no business in handling government backed mortgages. I'm sure they already have thousands of complaints. Argh! It ticks me off because I've never even had a late payment with them. The stupid stuff that aggravates you and takes up your time for no freekin reason! Edited March 1, 2014 by Tom Geiger
crazyjim Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Sounds like a good time to refinance with a different mortgage company, Tom. I've read that if you save lower your interest rate by 1 percentage point, it's with it. Our bank is working on a lower rate with no closing fees as we speak.
Tom Geiger Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Sounds like a good time to refinance with a different mortgage company, Tom. I've read that if you save lower your interest rate by 1 percentage point, it's with it. Our bank is working on a lower rate with no closing fees as we speak. True Jim, there are pros and cons with refinancing. One of the factors is that we don't know how long we will hold onto this house so it's unclear if that will be long enough to realize enough savings to make it worthwhile. I've been reading up, and found that this company doesn't own the loan, they are just the servicing company. And they have a Better Business Bureau rating of "F". The sites I'm reading say that if I can determine who the actual lienholder is, I can request a change in processors. The big risk in a refi is that I could wind up with them as the servicer again. So I'm hoping to get past this bump in the road, set my on-line banking to pay them every 14th and be done with it. And the big laugh.. as I researched them I found out who their parent company is, and it is one that contacted me about a Facility Manager position last summer. Guess I dodged that bullet! crazyjim Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 My next move will be to the Florida National Cemetery/Bushnell. We took a 30 year fixed loan at 7% in 2001. About 3 years later we re-financed at 4.5% for 15 years and our monthly payment dropped a couple hundred every month. We've been making payments at the old amount to reduce the principle pretty well. Now we're looking at another refinance to pay the house off even faster. But like I said, my next move is to the cemetery.
FASTBACK340 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 (edited) Nothing irking me these days….. My pending resignation from Infiniti and the new job is exciting….. all is cool! OK…. I'm a little irked my coffee got cool while typing this. Edited March 2, 2014 by FASTBACK340
Joe Handley Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 My sister and I took a drive in my Jeep out to the Dekalb HyVee to get groceries and the drive there was down Rt. 64 which wasn't bad, but we drove part of the way home via Rt. 38 and only made it half way before finding a road we could take back to 64. It was so rough and beat up that I wasn't sure of were going to open the egg carton once we got back home to find scrambled eggs and there were sections I had to slow down to 15-20mph below the limit and we were still getting bounced around. There were even a couple Taurus' stock off the road inexplicably on some of the rougher straigh stretches of road.

Nick Winter Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 My Jerk neighbor that insists on parking her BMW in front of her house on the street for days at a time when she knows its going to snow, so everytime I shovel mine and my elderly neighbors driveway, the plow comes along, has to tip the blade and puts 3 ft of hard packed snow at the end of our driveways, just our 2 adjoining driveways that I shovel...................Township has signs clearly posted up and down all the streets about Winter parking regs. "No parking on City Streets, November-April, 5PM-9AM" Unfriggin believable Nick
disabled modeler Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I had a very rude lady park 1/2 in my driveway once so I very nicely asked her if she could move her car just a bit so I could back my truck and car trailer into it.... She said boldly I am in a hurry to go shopping with my friend so you will have to just wait till I get back! OK....so I waited for her to leave and I backed my trailer up to her car and pulled the winch cable out...hook her car up and loaded it on my trailer....hauled it to a local shopping center and dropped it off. ...What car???
Nick Winter Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Called the city a few times now, pretty sure She's the one that called the city on me when I got my Ticket on my truck for "Commercial vehicle in Residential area for extended period", I fought the $35 ticket for parking in front of my house for 2 hours while I went and picked up another vehicle, I fought and won because my truck has "Used Primarily For personal transportation" MTO sticker on my plate. Nick Trying to back a LWB pickup with a 22 foot car trailer on the back of it from a narrow street into a narrow driveway with her BMW in the way was enough of a frustration, I'm sorry I'm not up to her high standards the snob, I've lived in this neighborhood for 18 years, you've lived here for 3, your the only one with a problem with me and my household................take that as a hint.......
Ramfins59 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 What really irked me today was, after all the hype and gloom and doom reports about the 12 inches of snow we were supposed to get, and all the municipalities around here that couldn't get their road salt orders filled and/or delivered, I decided that I wouldn't have my wife drive me to the South Hills Modelers Assoc. Show today in Castle Shannon (a Pittsburgh area town) since it was already snowing when I got up at 7 AM. So later on in the day it stopped snowing and we got about an inch and a half total...!!!
Craig Irwin Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Same here, only a couple of inches after all the hype.

Roads were a little sketchy this morning going to the show, but the snow was done by lunch time, and the roads were mostly just wet by the time we all piled out of there at 3. Storm definitely did us a favor by going South, but a bunch of people below the Mason-Dixon who weren't planning on much are getting walloped.

metalhead Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I had a case of limes fall off it's roller rack while restocking it. As I was putting the fallen case back into the rack, I pushed another case of limes off. Anybody that knows me can tell you that I have a really bad temper. By the time the second case fell, I was shouting and swearing as loud as I could. Not good when your bosses' office is ten feet away. To make things worse, I toppled a stack of pallets bringing them to the pallet area. So, might have a broken finger because I punched my forklift. Steel body. Didn't feel good, but I got my anger out and calmed down after a cigarette. The rest of the night was uneventful.
disabled modeler Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 That is awesome! Thanks....LOL... I should have left it on my trailer and charged her a towing fee....LOL...

YES! YES! You my friend are my HERO for "doing the right thing…." and assisting a busy person find a safe, LEGAL parking spot! That's a great story! The closest I've come to retaliation on a rude neighbor was one that would block my driveway too. The last time we had an issue was when she parked far enough out that I could get the corner of my Buick's bumper against the right front wheel of her Toyota. All it took was a gentle push to suddenly leave her car sideways blocking 3/4 of the street, and I got to work on time. Thankfully that family moved. Hopefully somewhere with more parking….

Thanks John.... Funny thing is when I did it I was way ticked off by her attitude after I was so nice about it to start with....even though I was the funny thing is I laughed my but off while doing it....LOL... There are times where you have to learn to speak their language so they understand....she got taught a lesson....

Funny story, and definitely what she probably deserved, but in some parts of the world they call unlawfully moving someone's vehicle (unless you're a licensed towing service and the car is parked illegally)..."felony vehicle theft". So you've gone from being rudely inconvenienced to committing a criminal act. Not worth the risk, from my own perspective; I just don't like jail food. Try not to get caught while "teaching lessons" to inconsiderate jerks. They are often the ones who scream "COP!!!" loudest when they feel affronted. Edited March 3, 2014 by Ace-Garageguy
