If I do get one it would be just like a weekend-after school type deal; one of our classes is actually having us submit resumes/cover letters into the MNR (Ministry of Natural Resources) and also for co-op placement they're basically giving us jobs over the summer so it will happen regardless; just having some work experience to put on a resume would be nice.

Given your interest in Cars, is there a shop you could start 'hanging out' at and volunteer to help clean up and hold things?

After 2 years of Riding the bus, and bumming rides, I understand how hard it can be to get things moving without your own wheels, but it looks like you do have use a car when you need it. Keep the faith. Things will improve.

Watch Some "Corner Gas". You can tell yourself that at least you don't live in Dog River.. (aka Rouleau)

I was hoping the local Princess Auto would take me but one, there are no openings, and two, my dad inquired one day and they only accept online applications. I was kinda sold on the idea of being a stock boy; my dad was in his early days.

My whole Family are Huge Corner Gas Fans. My wife even has memorabilia from the series. She wants to move to Rouleau, but that takes more money than I'll ever have.

Keep looking for that job, push. Anywhere you can get a foot in could be the springboard to your career. Listen to these guys, especially the older ones. I'm right in the middle of this group age wise (43) and truer words cannot be spoken. I started as a grunt, now I run the shop. First steps the hardest

Texted me this AM my water heater would be here today, so I stayed home to make sure the neighborhood porch pirates don't get it.

Fine. I can do some catch-up on my paperwork.

So now I check the tracking and they say my address is incorrect, delivery "may be delayed".

Really? Same address for 10 years, same address as on the order, same address both Home Depot and UPS have delivered to in my name multiple times since I've been here.

I AM SO SICK OF CONSTANT INCOMPETENCE THAT INVARIABLY COSTS ME TIME AND MONEY.

Just one of those days where nothing goes right. From the 5 burnt pots dumped into one coffee at 5am this morning,  lotto junkies sucking up my lunch break, to the greenhorn scuffing up my welding helmet. And now the mixing ball from the molotow stopped up my airbrush and blanked up the chrome. Murphy is definitely riding a black cloud around me today. I'm calling it. Tomorrow's another day

I've had those days myself, John. Sometimes all you can do, is close the door, and console your self that in the famous words of Scarlett O'Hara:

Where I work, we travel to different delivery hubs and maintain a fleet of vehicles. This morning I was assigned a work order that said "Diag driveability" which is usually followed by the driver's concern and/or complaint. This work order stated nothing more. When I got to the station where the vehicle was located, there was a hand-written repair tag that the driver submitted with the keys. It read "needs text drive; something wrong"   Even though I'm now off work and home, I'm still trying to find out what a "text drive" is....   This is almost as good as the repair tag I got a few months back that said "vehicle unsafe, smells like brake fluid is low"

And the crown stayed on less than 24 hours. Came off last night while eating dinner.  I do not blame the dentist. But, I may be eating nothing but mashed potatoes and pudding until the permanent crown is installed.

I've been through the same thing, they have a temporary cement available at walgreens/CVS  for things like that, not that online medical advise is wise to follow. Teeth problems are the worst. Good luck to you

If you can't blame the dentist who put it in, who can you blame?  it's the dentists fault.

I got a temporary crown on Tuesday, so far so good. The only instructions were nothing chewy or sticky and use caution when flossing. Mine is a bottom tooth,  they said ok to floss down but don't pull up, slide the floss out sideways. They're temporary, they need to be able to come out, you'll be thankful for that when the time comes to place the permanent crown. It happens, nobody needs to be blamed.

No, No it isn't his fault. They used one form of glue. It failed. They put the crown back on today with stronger adhesive. It will just make getting the temp crown off in 3 weeks, a lot harder job. That is why the used the weaker glue that first time, to make things easier when they pull the temp. I don't blame them. It happened, they fixed it 12 hours later (on a Saturday Morning, no less), so I'm pleased.

To  me this is looks like careless spelling mistake.  It probably means "test" as in "needs test drive; something wrong".  Maybe the person who wrote it did not know how to spell "test"?

Where I work, English is NOT a lot of the drivers' predominant language and they regurgitate words they commonly hear or see into nonsensical sentences. You'd be surprised at some of the descriptions I have to interpret into understandable conditions.

No, No I would not be surprised at all. I've also worked with some ESL drivers, and written communications can be "Challenging" to decipher.

Wow. That's quite an impressive diagnosis. Even after 50-plus years in the biz, I'm not attuned enough to "smell" when the brake fluid is low.

We had our share of delivery guys with the lack of understanding or reading English. Not sure how they even landed their job! One guy would hand us the delivery ticket and say "deliveries here" while standing at the dock and pointing to the load expecting us to sort through the cargo and find our items.. we complained to the company but they apparently had a hard time finding anybody wanting to work so it continued on. I don't miss any of the BS.. just the satisfaction of working in a cabinet shop and making customers happy.

And on top of my previously mentioned morning, my GF got something big stuck in her tire while coming home from out of state. Had to find someplace that could get four tires by tomorrow while she was waiting for a tow truck.When she gets home, I have to figure out what non-critical parts I need to get (I'm thinking at least an inner fender panel).
