Danno Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Don't get mad, Danno. We're just talking about civics here. I'm not mad, Danny. I'm civilly talking civics - and history - here, too. Why do you guys always have to start slinging pejoratives when somebody doesn't agree with your Kool-Aid dogma?

Ace-Garageguy Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 (edited) Wouldn't it be nice if partisanism could be left behind, and the people who "represent" us could actually focus on issues...using logic, applied intelligence, common sense, and real (un-spun) factual data (as opposed to pandering shamelessly to the ignorant masses of uninformed but opinionated "voters" they rely on to keep their noses at the trough) ? Nope, never happen. Edited August 9, 2014 by Ace-Garageguy

David G. Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I find that if I tap my brakes just enough for the brake lights to go on, that usually makes the tailgater back off. There have been times, though, where I have dealt with "aggressive tailgaters" who don't back off when they see my brake lights. In those cases I hit the brakes hard enough so that they also have to brake. Man oh man, they do not like that maneuver! Most of the time when I do that, they'll swerve around into the other lane and blast past me while they give me a dirty look (or a specific finger arrangement)... I love making morons mad! Wow! That's potentially much more dangerous than waiting for the green light to make a right turn. Not something I would try. David G.
Harry P. Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 As long as you aren't doing the tap your brakes thing when you are already doing 35 in a 55. That's my favorite. Believe me, driving less than the speed limit is not the problem with me. My problem is just the opposite.
Harry P. Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 cutting fire wood today and getting stung 6 times by yellow jackets ,I HATE BEES !!!!!! , Yellowjackets aren't bees. They're wasps.
southpier Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I don't usually react when someone makes a boner move in traffic. i'll fade back a touch and let them on their way. my theory is that this will give them confidence to push their personal envelope. some day they'll pull a stunt on the wrong driver, maybe in a semi tractor trailer, and get their just reward. and I sometimes find myself in places where giving the other guy the wrong look could turn ugly very fast.
southpier Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 (edited) it's a long time irk with no sign of improvement: posts referring to a scale model with actual dimensions. if a model is chopped 1/4", isn't that 6 scale inches (assuming 1/24 scale)? I think if we are spearheading the elite 10% of the model car hobby (from deleted thread on improving models) there should be specific standards regarding how a project description should be written. consistent and fairly accurate terminology could be used. for example, "motors" should not be interchangeable with "engines". although "alternators" and "generators" will require a bit more research. Craig Irwin Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 School is starting up again. 'nuff said My grandkids are finishing their second week of school. It should be a law, no school before Labor day or after Memorial day.
Rob Hall Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 My grandkids are finishing their second week of school. It should be a law, no school before Labor day or after Memorial day. School calendars have changed alot in recent decades, apparently...even as a kid 30+ years ago I don't remember starting until after Labor Day..
Joe Handley Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 My grandkids are finishing their second week of school. It should be a law, no school before Labor day or after Memorial day. It was pretty much like that in Iowa when I was growing up, always seemed strange when we went back for Memorial Weekend and my cousins were already out of school for the summer, yet here in the Chicagoland area, we usually started in late August and didn't finish until early June.
Harry P. Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 When I was a kid we got out in mid June, and back the Monday after Labor Day (early September).

Guest Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 good signature! That's a quote from former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz. He had quite a few good ones
Harry P. Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Deleted threads, with no reason or explanation given as to "Why"...... A lot of "deleted" threads aren't deleted at all... just moved to where they should have been posted in the first place.

Do you have links to the past two that we are all talking about? They just seemed to vanish into thin air, all of this isn't really helping the simple question we had on hand.

Austin T Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 The threads where were all trying to figure out what the thing was with Greg, you've posted in both of them. I was typing out a reply in the last one yesterday and it wouldn't let me reply because said thread was erased from existence. I doubt there's something big and bad going on but it would be nice to know what's going on with the head honcho when someone posts info saying that Greg is possibly not a part of MCM anymore.
