Here is the JoHan model that I built about a month ago. It seemed most people didn't care for the way the front end sat up so high, and after seeing it on my computer screen, I agreed. So I dug out my Monte Carlo kit and got the low version of the front suspension, replaced the high one, and took some more pictures because I thought you might want to see them.

It's a '55 Pontiac Starchief that I chopped the top off of. The interior is from a '62 Catalina with a '57 Chevy dash.

The chassis is an AMT '57 Chevy with a '70 Monte Carlo front clip.

Paint is Testors lacquer Star Spangled Blue and Pearl White.

It's not perfect, but I had fun building it.

it does sit level, it's just the paper is not level. and the black lint looking stuff on the trunk is really stuff on my phone.photo-vi.jpgphoto-vi.jpg

So, what do you think? better? I think so. Thank you all for your constructive criticism. Roy

That looks pretty cool Roy, I love the colors......but what's with the front end being so high..? Is it supposed to be a lowrider hopper..? I just scored one of these '55 Pontiac hardtops on EBay myself.

Nice work! The interior looks great and you got it to fit really well.

How were the scripts on the spare wheel done? Looks like chrome transfers.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Rich, Jim, the front suspension is off the '70 Monte Carlo lowrider kit. It's suppose to represent hydraulics. I was going for the tail dragger look, but I guess it is a little high.

Peekay, I used a photo etch kit I got from Oakey Spalding who owns Johan. I had to trim a bunch on that interior. Thanks for the compliment.

Very inspired build. I like the way you got the interior from two sources

The PE scripts are fantastic and the paint really pops

It does sit a tad high at the front, though

Even for hydraulics , it still is a might too high. Other than that , I could easily see this car at any one of several Dallas Texas Saturday night cruises ................
