I've related the story before but it bears repeating. I would occasionally find one of my finished builds mysteriously broken. I was able to deduce my then wife, ex#2, was deliberately breaking certain models. I began this build and at the same time started another. I kept this one "under wraps" while exclaimimg my pride for the other. When finished I proudly displayed the other build, a 1/48th scale P-51, and placed it on the shelf. I took this car and set it in a dresser drawer. Low and behold the P-51 got damaged a week later.

I took the kids and moved out shortly thereafter.

This CHP Ford earned a few awards, but I cherish it for it's "revealing" nature. ;)

Probably this kitbash of the fadeaway fenders from the '48 Ford Coupe fitted to a chopped convertible. Wanted to do something like this since I saw a similar one by Jack Davis (I think) on a magazine cover years ago. It was beyond my skillset to tackle this by scratchbuilding, but the recent issue of this kit brought it within reach, although much filler was consumed during the build. Once the body was painted, I couldn't resist completing the build.

Wow, there's some very cool builds here.

I've had a lot of favorite builds, but this would have to be one of the best. It's a replica of an actual truck that used to be in my neighborhood. I spent quite a while taking pictures and measuring this beast. People probably thought I was nuts... Maybe I am lol.

Even though I have several I really like and am proud of, this one is hands down my personal favorite, bar none.

Original Issue MPC kit. But straight out of the box.

I bought/built one of these new back in the day and lost it in a house fire back in the mid 70's . So when the opportunity presented itself to get a started kit a few years ago, I grabbed it and finished it( SO much better than the one back in the day was i might add)

One year my buddy Jerry and I built this to raffle off at the NNL West. we hung out a few evenings working on stuff and it was a blast, best time I have had building a model ever. So this had to be my favorite build...I built the V12 flathead and suggested the Orange Crate body, while other members of our club (City Styles, Sacramento CA) built up the beginnings of a chassis and Jerry and I figured out the final running gear and engineered it all to touch on four corners! Turned out pretty nice

Jerry Amaral did all the paint and graphics, it was quick but effective:

I gotta build some thing Orange Crate based this year, I just dig that body.

I've built so many models over the years that I can't remember most of them, let alone which was my favorite! And all of the models I built as a kid are long gone, and no photos either... :(

So going by the models I've built recently and have a photographic record of, I'd say this one is my favorite:

Ma que bella maccina!!

Non solo bello, ma anche una grande calamita per le ragazze ;)

Or so did say my grandfather, Mr. Enio Lazzaroni.

As always... whatever I am working on currently.
Once they are done.... they are done and to the shelf they go.

The fun is in the research, construction and innovation. After that.... what else is there?

This was a build I did for my son. He is currently stationed on the ship. It was a 10 month labor of love, and totally burned me out of building ships.

I used LEDs to light the bridge, hanger, and well deck. It was fun, but I don't think I want to undertake anything like this again.

I don't speak the language, so I'm going to assume that's a compliment.... ^_^

I love this truck! I'm a sucker for replicas. Many years ago there was a 1968 or so Chevy short mason dump truck for sale up on the highway. It was this rusted, beat multicolored truck, with a good amount of gadgets and such on it. Perfect model material. So I went up there with my trusty 35mm camera and a tape measure. I'm happily getting my data, and the owner drives up. He asks, so I explain what I'm doing. His response, "Well if you like the truck so much, just give me the $600 and you can measure it in your own driveway." That stopped me cold, I actually thought about it a few seconds. Then I realized this was a line in the sand I wasn't gonna cross!

Ouch! I didn't have that problem. I think i went there on a Sunday when no one was around. It had set there for weeks and nevr moved. I do remember many years ago,I was building a Trans Am pace car and I found one for sale. I called the guy to get some info on the interior (this was pre internet,so information was scarce unless you found an article about the car or knew some one that had one) anyway,I called this guy and told him up front that I couldn't buy the car but I was building a model of it and could he please give me some info on the interior. He hung up on me...

I think mine so far is the 70 Challenger I made. It came out perfect! I was soproud of myself for that one. I hope that once I get moved into my new place I can get a few pics and post them. My second favorite is my 71 Charger, it came out good too, and then probably my 66 Chevelle.

My favorite kit ever, the 1/12 Blower Bentley. This one was under the General Mills label version.

That is seriously cool

For me it will be the next box I open and start. I have the ability to create a model in my mind, just not with my hands as I get about 75% done and start on the next one!

Back in that era I had a '64 Valiant Signet 2 door hardtop I had advertised on Hemmings or Old Car Weekly. I'm in NJ and a guy calls me from California and he's in a corner. He has the same car with a bad repro interior. He wants to get his redone closer to stock but needs photos. So me, being a sucker for a good story and project, take nearly a whole roll of 35 mm photos and pop the roll in the mail to him. I have no idea what happened past that because I never heard from him again, no thanks, no money for the photos!
