oldscool Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 This was built several years ago and was posted as a WIP and in Under Glass. I never really liked the wheels so I've gone with something with a more period correct vibe. I think I nailed it.
Monty Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Given all the aftermarket wheels the kit mfr had to choose from, I'll never understand why they chose the ones they stuck in the kit. That design always looked like it was made for custom vans as opposed to street machines. The chrome reverse wheels you've changed over to are a much better choice for this car.

That style wheel had some popularity on cars for a brief period in the late 70s, I think. I remember my Dad put a set of them (Carroll Shelby brand wheels) on his '68 Cougar back around 1978.... oldscool Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Are those from the '49 Merc custom kit? Yes they are.
Chuck Most Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Thanks! I agree they look better on the car. Now, if the car had a big tunnel ram and a jacked up back end, then yeah, the first wheels would have been the way to do it, but the chrome steelies fit the style you built way, way better.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 The first wheels fit the era of the kit, but not really the car. Now it's better. Put some wide whites and it will be even better.

Jantrix Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Chromed steelies will never go out of style. They will always be cool. Nice work.
