Danno Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Wow, a cop car with a top speed of 80 mph, maybe. Your model is fantastic. Great illustration of good intentions gone bad. 80? Maybe downhill . . .
mikemodeler Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Haha - maybe a Chevette K-9 unit! I think a Pinto wagon would make a cool K-9 unit!
realgone58 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 That's awesome! Thanks for the history, I had no idea any departments used Vegas!
Maindrian Pace Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Neat little cop car. They might have made functional city units, Phoenix had a fleet of Celebritys in the mid '80s, and those couldn't have been much faster. -MJS
Zarana-X Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Nice build. I've alwasy liked the way Vegas looked, even if they're rusty & slow. The story was believable up until the Vegas were destroyed, They would most likely be sold off or auctioned.
am73grand Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 That is a very imaginative build. I really like it alot!!! I've got a similar Vega in my pile and may do something similar now that I've seen how awesome yours looks!!! Great job!!!
SteveG Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Nice job Erik and not too far from reality. Even the NYPD tested the Chevy Citation in 1980. Check out the link to some photos of Chevy Chevette and Ford Escort Police Cars on Copcar.com. http://www.copcar.com/mo0300.htm -Steve
Davewilly Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Great Story! and Great little Vega. I also have a soft spot for the car...Just thought they were cool as a kid...specially with a v8 in them.
Tom Geiger Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Ya never know, New Hope, PA Ford Focus. I'll bet some agency somewhere used just about every car ever made.
Porscheman Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Ya never know, New Hope, PA Ford Focus. I'll bet some agency somewhere used just about every car ever made. Tom, you haven't been to New Hope, PA for a while. They now have a Smart car black & white, with a LED roof light.
uncle potts Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I got a good laugh out of it when I saw the picture.
Agent G Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I have driven a late model Cavalier as a detective car. They gave me a new '11 Malibu when it came in, been driving it for nearly three years now. New chief publically stated there will be none of that nonsense in the future. Can you say Dodge Charger? I knew you could. G
unclescott58 Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Boy, I was buying this, hook, line, and sinker. Great model. And a great background story. I've heard of state governments doing stupider things. So this kind of made sense. Plus I now wonder how a Cosworth Vega would have done in that role? Scott
