Lovefordgalaxie Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I was reorganizing my cars to be able to fit some more in the same space, and decided to take my Mercury out and give her a little waxing and to take some more pictures. Really old build, before internet, and easy online research. 1949 Mercury Eight Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1949 Mercury Eight Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1949 Mercury Eight Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1949 Mercury Eight Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1949 Mercury Eight Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1949 Mercury Eight Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1949 Mercury Eight Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr

CaptainAhab Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) Classy! Thanks for bringing it out, deserves to be seen Edited February 14, 2014 by CaptainAhab
1972coronet Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Super Merc there , Tulio ! Now , doesn't that kit come with a crossram-equipped 413 as well ? That Merc would run better if you'd utilised that engine instead ( ).

Harry P. Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I love to see these built stock. The world already has way too many custom Mercs.
realgone58 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Gorgeous! Looks like you just built it, and it also looks like a real car sitting there!
1972coronet Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I don't recall, I threw the junk away Ha ha ha ! I agree with Harry ; it is nice to see the stock version of a '49 Merc ! Around the corner from where I grew up , there was a blue '49 Merc , and it was stock ! It even had its L-Head V8 and every-thing ! I remember thinking , Man , I hope that no one ever cuts that thing up in order to customise it !
Lovefordgalaxie Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Ha ha ha ! I agree with Harry ; it is nice to see the stock version of a '49 Merc ! I remember thinking , Man , I hope that no one ever cuts that thing up in order to customise it ! I know what you mean. It's so rare to see a survivor, and it really pisses me off seen a original car being turned into a butchered aberration. Please, don't get me wrong, I'm not against adding a personal touch to a car, but I only go to a point where the personal touches are easy reversed back to factory stock. I did it on my '74 Galaxie. I added some '66 Galaxie 7 Litre pinstriping in adhesive form that can be removed with ease, also added hi po dog dish hubcaps, a tach, a set of Summit racing under dash water temp, oil press and volt meter, all very easy to remove. Replaced the stock 7.75X15 tires with F70X15 Wide Ovals, again easy to revert. Replaced the stock two barrel intake and two barrel Motorcraft 2150 carburetor by a ECZ-B four barrel intake and a Autolite 4100, again easy to revert. The car looks a lot "personalized" but can be 100% factory stock in a day's work.

charlie8575 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I love to see these built stock. The world already has way too many custom Mercs. Agreed. Charlie Larkin
crazyrichard Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 awsome to see this stock , i am building this exact kit atm but then customizing it ... , yours looks great love all the bmf work
Peter Lombardo Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 That build has really held up well......it looks even more convincing with the slight "patina" of the wax residue around the edges. The chrome has the look of very well cared for, but has seen its share of road time. All and all, the stock look works better than a custom would because of this.......very well done.
