Arbatron Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Where do you build your models? The kitchen table? A desk in the bedroom? Do you have a hobby room of building? I live in a small 2 bed apartment. So I'm going to try to build at the kitchen table. Of corse this means that I'll have to clean it off after every build session but it's what I have to work with. How about you?
bbowser Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Coffee table in front of the tube in the evenings! Got a glass cutting board I use to move it out of the way at other times.
JamesW Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I have an 8' bench in the basement, yet I haven't spent any time down there in months. I have a few projects in front of me while I'm watching TV or on the comp. Not really doing much with them though, not a whole lot of motivation.
Sixx Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 A two car garage that is heated & has an air conditioner. I'm spraying through a 4ft x 4ft x 3ft passche booth with an explosion proof fan...that is 12inch diameter! Still paying for that sucker! (Not really) Don't have a basement so I snagged the.garage!
Harry P. Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 The dining room table. The kids are grown and gone... I have three unused bedrooms! I really should make one of them a permanent hobby room.
rmvw guy Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Garage. No problem with the kitchen table as long as you have good lighting and a spill proof surface, I have done it.
alangarber Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 In the living room in front of the tube then all painting is done in the basement
cobraman Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I have a desk in the master bedroom but stopped using that recently. I put up a good sized folding table right behind my living room sofa so i build there now. Don't feel so isolated and can view the larger TV. It was actually my wives idea !

tbill Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 one of my kids moved out, so I build in my own room now here is what it looked like, now it's a mess........
Harry P. Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 It was actually my wives idea ! Are you a Mormon? How many do you have?
charlie8575 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Right now, a tray table cluttered with other stuff. Re-organization of the house is creating more chaos that clarity! Eventually, I plan to have a small desk/table thing someplace. I paint in the basement or outside if it's warm/dry enough. Charlie Larkin
oldscool Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I build on an old desk in the bedroom but when the weather is warm and dry and the wind isn't howling (which is a rarity in this area) I build out on my deck. Just no substitute for sunlight.
mikevillena Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 (edited) I live in a one bedroom apartment so space is at a premium. Hence, I build on my dining table that doubles as my computer desk. (Excuse the sanding dust) Edited April 22, 2014 by mikevillena
FASTBACK340 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I' m fortunate to have a useless, tiny 3rd "bedroom" that's 10' X 10' and holds me, my bench, spray booth, and my tool chest nicely along with a nice comfy swivel office chair. Buts that's it..... the Burrito is stuffed at that point. My poor dog can't even squeeze in to visit. But a good, small stereo makes for an awesome sound in that mouse hole. The basement stores the un-builts.
Ramfins59 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I got real tired of having to clean up my stuff at the dining room table every day for meals and when we had friends and family visit, so last year I "reinhabited" my basement model area and now I work at a rolltop desk. I have lots of lighting and everything is pretty much at arms reach. An electric heater helps take the chill off and a small radio gives me some tunes. I don't have to move anything anywhere anymore..
PappyD340 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Yep, I'm like Rich I have my stuff set up in the basement, my workbench is an old metal Library table that's 6 ft long and 31/2 ft wide so I can leave what I'm working on spread out , I have my paint booth down there also and my basement is heated with natural gas so no problem with cold or wet I can pretty much paint all year round, when I get done working I just cut the lights off and when I go back it's just like I left it!!
Porscheman Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 In the den in the recliner in front of the tube. All painting is done in the back yard unless it rains, then I paint in the garage.
Vampira Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I do all my work in the garage. turn on the heat in winter and paint..Except when its really cold

cobraman Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Are you a Mormon? How many do you have? Ha ha. My bad ! That's funny. I'm still married to wife # 1
Harry P. Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Ha ha. My bad ! That's funny. I'm still married to wife # 1 I'm guessing she's glad to hear that...
Kit Basher Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Add me to the kitchen table group. Any spray painting is done next door in my wood shop. (You think you have a dust problem!)
Mooneyzs Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I have one of the rooms in my house that is set up as a hobby room with a workbench in there but it seems that I have been building at my kitchen table more the past few years due to having the tv in my family room that I will watch while building. I probably would get more accomplished if I did my work in the hobby room ... There would be less distractions for sure...lol
