StevenGuthmiller Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) Here's an original AMT 1960 Buick Invicta. One of the very first AMT kits to be offered with an engine. I had a ton of fun building this kit but it also offered it's challenges. Some things didn't fit together real well! I'm usually not a big fan of silver cars, but with the white top & red & white interior, I thought it was a real "stand out" color combo for this car. Painted in correct MCW "Silver Mist". unclescott58 Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Very nice Buick. When I attend the Buick Club of America nationals, this is one of the years I do judging on. From what I can see, if your Buick was a real car, it would do quite well at any BCA meet. Scott Aho
Tom Geiger Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Very nice! I used to have a 1:1 1960 Electra 2 door hardtop. I think the 60 is a much prettier car than the 59.
Grumpa Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Beautiful build Steve! It's nice to see the early kits being built and not shoved onto a shelf. I love your choice of colors. Not sure if the exterior / interior combo was available back in 1960, but looking at this one....it should have been. Great car! BTW, are the wheels stock to the kit?
Ramfins59 Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Great job Steve. Nice work in the engine compartment.
realgone58 Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Beauty! I too, am not a fan of silver cars, but this one looks fantastic!
StevenGuthmiller Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 Thanks every body!! I appreciate all of the great comments! Actually Mark, my inspiration for this build was a 1:1 convertble I saw online painted in this color with a red & white interior. If it wasn't for that picture, I probably would not have gone with the silver. Yes, the hubcaps are rechromed originals from the annual. Steve
Harry P. Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Man, you build some fine looking models! I love the red wheels. A nice touch that many might have missed.
Mooneyzs Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Very nice build. This looks great. I would love to pick up one of these kits some day
