Lovefordgalaxie Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 This is my 1936 Ford coupe. I built it from the AMT kit, and man, that was the hardest kit I ever built. All parts were "embedded" in flash, and just making the top to look like one piece with the body was a build in itself. The build is almost box stock. The only additions were the radiator supports, windshield wiper, and the tailpipe. The paint is synthetic enamel custom mixed in FoMoCo color Demonstrator Yellow, and then airbrushed. All the rest of the paint is Model master Acrylics. For more details, WIP here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89018 Thanks for looking!!! 1936 Ford De Luxe Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1936 Ford De Luxe Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1936 Ford De Luxe Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1936 Ford De Luxe Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1936 Ford De Luxe Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1936 Ford De Luxe Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1936 Ford De Luxe Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1936 Ford De Luxe Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1936 Ford De Luxe Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1936 Ford De Luxe Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr
peekay Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 That is really classy! I did the convertible in the same colour last year.
John Goschke Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Beautiful job, Tulio! Superb work getting the top to fit on this kit.
Shardik Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Beautiful. I love the color. You've done a nice job with a VERY difficult kit.
StevenGuthmiller Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Beautiful Tulio!! I'm not much of a '30s-'40s guy, but that's just plain old NICE!! Steve
charlie8575 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Very nice, Tullio. Demonstrator Yellow? Was that not a regularly-available color? Charlie Larkin
wisco8 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Túlio, you are a modeling god!! Im so fasinated with your work!! Thank you for sharing. God bless brother Steve Cook, from West Allis Wisconsin.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 Thanks guys!! Very appreciated!!! Very nice, Tullio. Demonstrator Yellow? Was that not a regularly-available color? Charlie Larkin Yes, the color is on a Ford catalog for 1936. It was also called Tacoma Cream on the 1935 catalog, and it's a carry over color (same formula) that just changed name. On a ACME catalog I even found this color under the name Tacoma Yellow for 1936.
gluebomb Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 That is extremely well done and I am surprised it is not a Galaxie..LOL
drifterdon Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Another masterpiece from the Jedi Master of Model Cars!
Grumpa Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Wow Tulio....this is fantastic! I love the color, and as usual, your craftsmanship is outstandin! Nice build!
Lovefordgalaxie Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 Guys, I don't know how to thank you for the comments!! I think you guys are exaggerating a bit. I guess I'm going to buy the new issue of this kit, the three window coupe reissued by Round 2. My friend Mike Permanian (Mike 1017 here) got one and sent me some pictures. I liked the goodies that came in the box, not to mention the three window top is a lot better to make fit. The one thing I didn't like were the tampo printed tires. They never come with all four whitewalls perfectly centered, and have to be repainted anyway. believe me I bought the AMT parts pack with those tires, and had to repaint the whitewalls. Why didn't I like it? Because those tires are more expensive, and of course they contribute to the kit's price without the need, IMHO. And to be 100% honest, I love the traditional, good old AMT Firestones...
StevenGuthmiller Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 If you can get your hands on some Tulio, Modelhaus makes fantastic white wall tires. I buy the repops of the old "Satco" wide whites from him & I love them! Not exactly cheap either at $8.50 a set, but I think they look so much better than printed or painted ones. I just bite the bullet & buy them 4 or 5 sets at a time. I just shoot a coat of flat white or white primer over the whitewall insert to eliminate the little bit of "shininess". Steve
