Snake45 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 That's the Collings Foundation TP-51D; they just recently got the restoration finished. It was built up from parts; the cowling with the name Toulouse Nuts came from a Mustang that was in the West Virginia Air National Guard in the 1950s. They found a photo of that plane and painted this one to match it. A bit unusual to see a Mustang in that scheme, but the Guard used Mustangs up until 1957. The real Toulouse Nuts that the cowl came from: (Photo by Locobuster via the Warbird Information Exchange) There seems to be at least some evidence that this is in fact the fuselage from '655, though the wings, tailplanes, and of course engine are from who knows what. There's a detailed story on it in the current issue of Air Classics.
Rob Hall Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Saw a clean '63 Suburban (teal an white) at the grocery the other evening...had GMC hubcaps but a Chevy grille. This afternoon in traffic, saw a clean red '65 Mercury Comet 2dr ht w/ the license plate '65COMET', a red Porsche 356 cabriolet w/ the top down, and a very clean silver blue early '80s Olds Delta 88 4dr (rare to see one of these so clean and stock).

Rob Hall Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Saw a Chrysler Sebring convertible in traffic, nothing unusual, but it was top down with a large refrigerator in the back seat...
Russell C Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) Saw a Chrysler Sebring convertible .... top down with a large refrigerator in the back seat...Almost begs for a build theme category, "what will be hauled in your convertible?" Edited December 1, 2016 by Russell C
Rodent Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Almost begs for a build theme category, "what will be hauled in your convertible?"Ugh. The first thing that I hauled in my first convertible (70 Cutlass in 1980) was an incredibly huge pizza. At about 70 mph, there was enough wind buffeting in the back seat to make the pizza box start to levitate. Good thing that my front seat passenger had long enough arms to smack down the pizza before it left the car. Would make an interesting diorama, I guess.
Kit Basher Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Almost begs for a build theme category, "what will be hauled in your convertible?"Years ago I had a customer who loaded a 10 foot kayak in the passenger seat of a BMW Z3. Even angling it as much as we could, it still stuck up above the windshield a good 5 feet. After tying it down the best we could, she left on her 35 mile trip home. I never heard from her again, so I guess she made it.
Tom Geiger Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Geo Tracker convertible... 22' extension ladder! Sitting against the back tailgate, fished under the roll bar and over the windshield. Five mile trip, no problem!
Dodge Driver Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 A bright yellow AMC Spirit with Cragars and a black hood scoop. Looked pretty good, actually.
peter31a Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 Geo Tracker convertible... 22' extension ladder! Sitting against the back tailgate, fished under the roll bar and over the windshield. Five mile trip, no problem! Now, Tom did you actually see this vehicle going down the road? I don't think it's fair to say you saw it on the road today if you were the one actually driving it.
Rob Hall Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 Saw a solid lt blue 66 Pontiac LeMans 4dr Ht parked a gas station. Faded paint but straight and no visible rust for a car in NE Ohio.
Tom Geiger Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 Now, Tom did you actually see this vehicle going down the road? I don't think it's fair to say you saw it on the road today if you were the one actually driving it. Yup, I was driving it.
Erik Smith Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Couple classic Hondas (a stock CRX!!) and a really cool, pretty used, original Ford Bronco:
Russell C Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Seen while bicycling through a retirement community. Lack of snow might be responsible for this ...
Erik Smith Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Nice original HF, take that hybrids.I know, right? I forgot how small they are - makes my Miata look kinda oversized.
samdiego Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 A Nissan Figaro. I wasn't aware that these were being brought into the US
Rob Hall Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 A Nissan Figaro. I wasn't aware that these were being brought into the USThey are over 25 years old now, so they are eligible for import. I've seen a few interesting late 80s-early 90s JDM cars around over the last year...
Erik Smith Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 A Nissan Figaro. I wasn't aware that these were being brought into the USYeah, if you follow Bringatrailer.com at all, they've had a couple this year as they are reaching that magic age.
Rob Hall Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Auction week is here, saw some oldies that may or may not be related...saw a clean yellow '65 Coronet ht in a motel parking lot in downtown Scottsdale, a black late 50s Rolls Royce Phantom, and a yellow early (chrome bumper) Pantera...
Rob Hall Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Saw a gorgeous red w/ gold rockers and gold wheels Lamborghini Miura SV in traffic...first I've ever seen that I can recall...what a sound.
Dave Ambrose Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 I saw a 1950-something COE truck. Not sure whether it was a Ford or Chevy, but it was nicely rebuilt and painted a dark blue.
Mike 1017 Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 These horses looked like they were having a grand old time. They were looking around at the cars and the people in them. I swear that they smiling. The wind was making their ears and lips flap around in the breeze.
