Turns out my 1960 Plymouth Brochure from eBay is way way ahead of schedule, having the delivery date be sometime today, instead of August 1st. Whether or not that's 100% true I don't know, but as long as it gets here.

Had two trees cut down in my yard today. The power line from the roadside pole was running through the top of both of them. The house has been here for 55 years, not sure if the trees were here first or maybe planted by my father. Either way I have an uneasy feeling every time a storm blows through, that one of those trees may fall and take my power out. Now my mind is clear, and I have a large pile of wood chips in the corner of my yard to use as mulch when I need it.

I know the feeling, I've had trees take out the lines on multiple occasions. And the cost of removal isn't great either. At least you got some piece of mind now.

Talking about cutting trees would bump me into the negative thread.
I still have the brochure for the '77 Honda Civic my dad got and I started driving on.  At the time (late 70s) I would beg to stop at dealers so I could get sales literature.  It was long after they gave away promo models, I missed that era.
I'm pleased that Fakerri brakes in a straight line again.

Ordered myself a 1970 Mercury full-line brochure. Now I've got a brochure bug happening. But in some cases it's more affordable than Model Cars and easier to store because brochures are flat, not really 3-D like a model car. That being said I'm not going to spend $102 on the '69 Beaumont brochure. Although that would be a totally awesome addition to the collection. Read through my '60 Plymouth brochure this morning, every word, cover to cover. Only makes me want the real car even more. Very informative on features I didn't even know.

I actually finished a model today.

So that's one off the bench.

 

Wow. It's been a while. Honestly...it might be the first one I've finished this year. I just haven't had that much bench time, plus I had a stretch of zero interest in building.

Roughly 10 minutes before I was to head out the door to work, I got a text message from the GM of my school bus company that said the summer camp has cancelled all activities due to the high temps for today. The heat index is expected to be 103 degrees in the Metro Boston area. However, the drivers will get paid for it and since it's Friday and payday, I'll get to have a three day weekend. It's AC city for me. OH YEAH!

Pleased I'm vertical and free of medical issues, listened to someone about his ordeal for like an hour, you never know.  My Shipping Container got a custom transfer, since the County is always wanting to know the square feet of anything for a permit, and I skated on this, just for laughs I added that specification.  It's about as close to modeling that I've done for awhile.

Beautiful weather this morning, getting ready to head out to with my wife to get the motorcycles inspected. Perfect day for a ride and we love that shop. So many good people and awesome bikes to check out.👍👍

Took an online test for a County job. I've been anxious about taking this all week.

Turns out the process was seamless (this time) and the test wasn't as bad as I had feared. The second of Five Hoops to jump through in order to hired for the position. This test moves the hiring process from County H.R. to Public Works, so no telling when (or if) I get call back for the interview.

I slept much better last night.

Might want to think long and hard on selling. These are a hard vehicle, and expensive, to replace and what would you replace it with?

It has never been a daily driver, always a nice day cruiser. The stiff suspension and lack of blind spot monitors are beginning to lessen the fun factor as I age. It wouldn't be replaced, the dollars would fund a lot of travel.

Sounds as if you and I have shared the same experience in life and automobiles. I retired in 2005 and bought a new GTO as a retirement car. Had it for nine years and only 40k miles. I was at a point where it was difficult to get in and out of the car without hitting my head and the wife was pinning for a new car. Since I had a pickup and an old Bonniville for day-to-day use and her car was starting to act up and was over 100k miles we traded the GTO as part payment on her new car. I have often regrated that decision ever since. This is the reason behind my remark about your beautiful Challenger. I now drive a Charger GT with AWD. While I miss the outright power of the GTO the better gas milage and headroom is appreciated. Good luck to you which ever you should go on this.

One of my shop computers died, the old WIN 7 machine...terminal hard-drive crash...but since I only use it to search/buy parts and stream music, there was no data lost.

My computer wizards have a nice selection of refurbed WIN 11 machines for cheap...and I've been running their refurbs both at home and in the shops, for years.

The summer camp cancelled all activities today because it's real scorcher outside but the drivers and I will still get paid for it. I'm in AC City for today.

The hammy has been being Very active for the last two days. At a year and a half, he's still quite spry! I had him outside in his ball at about 10:30 last night so he could get some fresh air.........

I broke my favorite coffee mug last night and while I told another driver about it this morning, our GM overheard it and came out of his office with not one but two new coffee mugs and gave them to me. Both have the company's name and logo. WHAT GUY!

The side marker lights and the Fisher Body embossed decal that goes on the door sill (was missing on the driver's side) for the Highway Star have finally come in after being delayed an extra week for no reason. Probably later we'll pop those lights in and stick the decal down.
