We had one of these growing up! I was ticked when my dad sold it...about a month before I got my driver's licence. She was a project and wasn't perfect, but I loved it.

Our local high school football team won their first game last night.  Earlier in the season we lost to the cross county rivals for only the second time in 18 years; they also lost two other games.  Last night's game was against a city school team (allowed to recruit) against our small rural high school (play with what you have).  This game is a biggie each year.  There used to be a bridge across the river that separates our two counties, however the state decided it was cheaper to destroy it than replace/repair it.  When it was razed someone took a chunk of the concrete and made it into a somewhat trophy.  Each year our two teams play the "Battle of the Bridge" for that piece of rock and bragging rights.  Way to go RAMS.

Haven't checked it in a while so I reset the mpg calculator for the trip from Indy to the SCIMA show as I came down I-65.  2009 G8 with the 3.6L (91,000 miles on it)....31 mpg for the hour drive.   Not bad for a 4,000lbs car

What pleased me this weekend...  My Celica GT Convertible has been in storage in my NJ garage since 2012.

Opened the hood, attached jumper cables to it and it started on the fifth crank!  I pulled it out into the driveway.

Seems to have a brake line leak, but otherwise good!  Note the barn fresh dust on it.

Watching the live Barrett Jackson auction coverage from Vegas.I'm not buying,I just like most of the cars going over the block.A lot of pick ups Again, including some crazy 80sToyota 4x4 PUs.The trucks have no miles, and are nearly perfect.Who would think about seeing some 80s Toyota and Nissans trucks up for auction. There are plenty of cars that are coming into their own,and their values are just going to rise.

Bill Harrah died in 1978, but he was known for putting away brand new cars from his dealerships into his car collection.  He saved some pretty low end mundane cars because he felt that the hobby distorts history since everyone saves convertibles and high end cars.  Some of those were in the auctions after his death.  Anyone for a zero mile 1963 Rambler American?

And as time marches on 80s Toyotas have become antiques, after all 1980 is 38 years ago.  And those pickups figure into some folks memories of their youth!   I remember back in the early 1970s people were saying that the cars of that era were "unrestorable" because of all the plastic interior panels etc.  so no one would collect them. But today all that stuff is reproduced and the cars are coveted!

Boy, I sure wish I had access to your sources.

More often than not, I have to spend weeks looking for either NOS pieces, or serviceable used pieces, or working closely with upholstery people to develop ways to accurately simulate the OEM parts because repops just don't exist for the vast majority of plastic stuff.

And more often than not, in the world I live in, even the "hard" mechanical parts that ARE reproduced are poor-quality offshore garbage that doesn't fit or function like the original stuff, and are usually made from inferior material.

Enjoyed Barrett-Jackson last night also. Loved seeing the restored 65 Ford station wagon...

I couldn't believe I saw a Jeep Cherokee go up for sale.I have a 2000 Cherokee.I love Cherokees..It was nice, but a bit over done for me.I think it sold for 15K..And then the early 80sToyota PU 4x4,going for $50K.Thats nuts.My old Toyota rotted right off the chassis. But I did have fun going off road. The motor finally seized.

Watched the Bears game. They actually looked like a real football team. Tampa isn't the best team in the league, but they're not exactly slouches either. Time will tell if today's game was a fluke or a preview of great things to come for the Bears.
