I finished the re-varnishing application on my bride's wind chimes. Had done this inside my house and used the paint booth to extract the strong varnish fumes. Today I thought I would take the chimes down from the ceiling hook and put them away until Spring weather returns. As I thought about this I turned on my small bench fan to circulate some air and suddenly the wind chimes started to ring. Softly and with intermittent runs of random notes. Reminded me of sitting on the harbor dock and listening while the wind rocks the sailboats at anchor in the bays. What a pleasing effect those chimes produced and I decided to leave the wind chimes where they are and will continue to enjoy this unexpected and calming experience while at the model bench. ?

Yup. I'll be 59 here shortly. Made bad choices in wife pickin'. On number four now. And sometimes she'll introduce herself as such, (#4)! She's a beaut though! First one said I worked too much. I guess putting her through nursing school wasn't why I would work two jobs. Second one decided drugs and overextending credit cards was a good option after I worked so she could stay home and raise her two girls. See a pattern? (I'm an idiot) Third? Thought I found arm candy. Well, 13 years got me lots of more credit cards being abused. When I walked in the door from my last day on the fire department, (35 years) she hit me with "I'm 38,000 in credit card debt." And that was the fourth time! I said, I retired today and getting divorced too. Don't care how much it'll cost me. Best thing I ever did! So, getting to the good stuff. I am so grateful to be with my wife of present. She and I think alike. She is beautiful. Jeans and cowgirl boots drive me nuts! We do everything together. We cook together. Take care of our garden and chickens together. She loves our truck. She can't wait till I build my '78 Jeep J10. She camps, shoots, (and dang good!). She loves a fire in the fireplace. (Brownie points for me when I build a fire!) Anyway, she is a hoot. Never giving a dang if I take a day and retire to my room in the basement. (Model, gun, computer room.) So. What pleased me today? Running it through my head that I have the most wonderful wife that I could ever wish for. She's 100% behind me and I'm 100% behind her. Things happen for a reason. And I'm dang glad where I'm at! Who's gonna be the first to say, BALOGNA! Or BRAUNSCHWAGER! (Can't use the words I wanna!) But I's telling the truth. Guy's, thanks for the avenue for letting me get this out! Sometimes we get to a place where we think no one will understand us. I believe this is a place where we're we can talk amongst ourselves and be understood.

i found this kind of funny.

i live in the usa. there are slot cars that i wanted that are not available in the usa, for whatever reason. i decided to look on different amazon sites from around the world

amazon germany's site had the track set i wanted, i ordered it, and it was shipped from spain. however, when i tried to order it directly from the amazon spain it was 50 dollars more

amazon spain's site had 2 cars that i wanted, i ordered it, and it was shipped from australia

amazon australia did not even list the cars as available

either way, i got the set yesterday and it is better than i thought it would be. the the cars are arriving in a couple of weeks, it looks like

Sometimes in life you have to experience the really bad things to fully appreciate the good when you find it.

Cats, being naturally inquisitive, sometimes get themselves in uncomfortable situations.

One of the ferals I feed got into the back "shop" part of the house last evening while I was offloading some tools. I didn't know it until much later when I heard something crash, went back to investigate, heard a scuffling (which I assumed to be a racoon), then saw a pair of frightened orange eyes looking at me from somewhere I couldn't possibly reach...a ridiculous space between two roof slopes a previous "renovation" had left.

I recognized it as one of my familiars, tried to get it out for hours, finally gave up and went to bed. Took the day off, spent most of today trying to get it calm enough to leave under its own power, finally managed to get it gone at about 5:00 PM.

It seems to be fine, as it was up on the front porch eating just a few minutes ago. Happy ending.  :D

Our, well actually our Daughters beloved 20 year old Tennessee Walking Horse mare we brought home this afternoon from an 11 day stay after colon impaction surgery at the Tennessee Equine Hospital.

Was quite an intensive and very expensive surgery and hospital stay but of course, well worth it to save her life.

This is Gypsy this evening. The white around her midsection is a tape wrap covering the over foot long incision on her underbelly... She's happy to be home.

It's a nice quiet moment.  A pretty snow scape with falling snow, the "larder" is stocked and the gas tanks full, wood stacked and dry for the fireplace, and Joyce is having a good day while working on a puzzle at the table. I am blessed.

Glad you can appreciate what you have and recognize them as blessings.

I am pleased to have survived a few of the worst days and have been a part of some of the best of days. I am grateful for what I have been given and glad to have not received what I deserve...

Amen, James. Big Amen!

went to the landlords to pay some rent in advance only to find I'm already 6 weeks ahead. I was quite taken aback by this as i missed a payment in november so should have been about even, if not a couple weeks behind. I'm not sure how it has happened as i'm only paying a little extra each wage and it shouldn't be this much ahead

Perhaps the "new math" is of some benefit after all.   ;)

Well this could be what irks you too.

Everything done in our house was not only done by someone who had no idea what they were doing but must be eventually undone.

I've looked at having some work done but at over $100/ hour for even "handyman" work, that won't be happening. So, taking out the spaghetti plumbing under my wife's sink and adapting the proper kit, involving a hacksaw and $16 for the kit and 48 minutes of labor... I saved myself $100+.

Now if everything was this easy. ?

My new truck has shipped. Due to arrive here late next week. :)

And because I can't leave well enough alone, I've already got some aftermarket stuff coming for it.

Didn't you just get one a couple months ago ?  Please post pics when it arrives.

Yeah, I have a numbered company and a fleet code with a couple of manufacturers, so get some pretty decent pricing. And with the market is nuts as it is right now, there is money to be made with lightly used trucks. I normally keep trucks for 6 months to a year, but this coming truck will be number 4 in the last 12 months. I'm thinking this next one will stick around a while though.
