crazyjim Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Beautiful Ed. I might have to print that one too, or make it my desktop background.
Crazy Ed Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Thanks Guys. Ray if you're gonna be in the "neighborhood" let me know n you can drop by for a visit. Not far from Cochise Stronghold.Don, My Wife and I had land South East of you where we had planned to retire. Things changed and we ended up here which was all for the better as it turned out, as the land we planned to retire on was just outside of Mountain Ranch.Jim, If there's a type of Pic you'd like for your Deskto shoot me off a PM n I'll see what I can dig up for ya.
unclescott58 Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 (edited) By the way Ed. Your avatar, or what ever they call it, is of a road runner, right? Now I know they are real. In fact they are Arizona's state bird, if I remember correctly? But, I like to kid around with people from southwest about how the road runner has to be made up. Like the Jackalope, or something. Because as many times as I've been to Arizona and New Mexico, I've never seen a live one standing by the side of the road or any place else. I see a lot of quail and other birds by the roads in Arizona. And I do believe I've seen a stuffed road runner or two. But, I've also seem stuffed jackalopes. And I know they're not real. So, I think it's time for all of you guys in the southwest, to quit trying to fool us out of state people with these road runner stories, and come clean. Or else I'll have to take you guys snipe hunting in the north woods of Minnesota some night. We all know the only real Road Runners were those built by Plymouth. ? Danno Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Scott, You're not likely to see a live Road Runner 'standing by the side of the road.' They are Road Runners. They run. There's a reason they aren't called 'Road Standers.' Just kidding around with you. But seriously, they are quick. I've lived in Arizona for 20 years now and have only seen Road Runners in the wild a dozen or so times; even living and traveling daily in areas they inhabit. They just don't like to stand still or stick around. And, they are shy. Even when you catch a glimpse, you've gotta be quick with a camera or you'll never get a pic. You're more likely to have a picture of "Place Road Runner Just Left."

First off the Arizona State Bird is the Cactus Wren Oh the Roadrunners are very real. I don't recall a week I haven't seen at least one here. They can appear Regal at times But then their true family colors come out also - they're related to Cuckoo's as in the Coco Puffs Bird and at times are just as Nuts. They like attacking their reflection in Windows and are easily distracted All these Pic's were taken out our Front windows from my Couch
Crazy Ed Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 (edited) Superb work sir. G SIR !! DON'T CALL ME SIR. I (used to) work for a Living . Thanks Wayne Edited December 6, 2015 by Crazy Ed
unclescott58 Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 "Road stander". That's a good one Danno. I like that! It's in the right vein of humor as me denying that road runners (or is it roadrunners?) exist. Again, even though I know they are really real. When talking with people from the southwest, I will continue accusing them of trying to pull a hoax on us outsiders. ?On a serious side. It would be cool to see one in real life. They are very cool looking birds. Thanks to Ed for proving more great photos. And by the way, they should be Arizona's state bird. Much better and cooler looking tha a cactus wren. That does not look much different from other wrens around the United States.

1930fordpickup Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 The great Pictures post here. The awesome weather we are having here in MI Agent G's humor !!!!1
Danno Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Great pix, Ed. Love 'em. Wish we had more of them (Road Runners) around here, but there's something about all the parking lots, traffic, and such that encourages them to stay out in the desert most of their time. Hey, Scott! No harm, no foul. I get some tongue-in-cheek - - - it's just hard to see through the computer! I pretty much figured you knew they are for real. But, you know, Jackalopes are real, too! Despite the rumors to the contrary, they are real! That's what we hunt when submarines and snipes are scarce.
James2 Posted December 6, 2015 Author Posted December 6, 2015 A little Sunset from the backyard, never gets old.

Joe Handley Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 How about Big Foots? They're out there, mostly based out of the St. Louis, MO area.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrvoyT5hSBg
Joe Handley Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Almost forgot, Dad decided to pull the wheel cylinders on the back of my Jeep today, apparently they didn't fight him with the lines into the cylinders as well as the bolts holding them to the backing plates! Not bad considering they are factory parts and the truck has a "Born On Date" of 1/98! That made Dad very happy, his XJ's fought him regularly when he had them.
