Dave Metzner can obviously confirm, but I was told at the GTR NNL on the 7th that these were on the boat and headed to the US.  Bob's paint had the box art model on display and GTR President Joel Peters took a photo of it:

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I believe that's a resin '65 Comet (Perry's) if memory serves. Bob has been displaying it for several months. Fooled me when I saw it at the Milwaukee NNL in April too!

Thanks,

Jim Kampmann

I'm guessing it's a curbside. Maybe that's why the hood fits so well! Also, for the purists - it's missing the "Comet" script from the left front edge of the hood.

Beautiful though!

If it isn't, then I'm sorry.  I didn't see it as I was working the indoors to do the photos of the models.  I bought some of Bob's paints, but didn't see this.  I guess we'll find out.  Blowing up the photo does seem to imply a separate hood, but the resolution is too low to get a better idea

Separate hood, separate side mirror, separate door handles, separate wipers, very clean chrome, the way the headlights are canted, the arc of the drip rail, modern style molded tires...this is nowhere near the resin Comet that I've seen before and looks just like previous photos of Comet test shots. We'll know soon enough.

I looked further back in this thread for photos and I'm convinced this is at least a test shot of the real deal. The way the glass fits, the separate headlight lenses, the custom wheels, and far more detail than the very basic resin that was once offered and also in photos further back in this thread.

That is no resin body. Its too thin in critical places. And as others have pointed out the chrome is way too clean. There hasn't been a fresh mold for casting the Comet around for years.

However with that said TowerHobbies has once again pushed my 2 kits on preorder/backorder out again now to November.

I'm like 99% sure that Bob got his hands on a test shot of the 65 Comet from Dave.   There's been several rounds so there's a few out there ....

Hi no it's not a Perry's resin I have one of them. The Perry's is nice and has good detail the one in the photo does not even come close to a Perry's I had to add the trim to the grill his does not come with it and I had to send the chrome out to be plated. The one in this photo has way more detail and sharper detail to the chrome.

The Red Car that Bob has is a 3rd test shot.. I'm waiting for the 4th and, I hope final test shot from China now..

Long story, factory wanted to make a number of final adjustments - to clean up some locator pins and holes etc and along the way they decided to maker an un called for improvement to the front stone shield - Now they are behind schedule yet again!

Box, instructions and decals are done, just waiting to see this last test shot..

Hope that kits will be here before end of the year!

And there you have it folks, it'll be here long before you finish all the kits in your stash.

Packaging files went to the factory yesterday. 4th test shot is due out this week, should be in my hands next week.

If everything goes right we could have kits Octoberish..

That scratching sound you hear is scribers, X-Acto blade points and photoetch saws opening up hoods on AMT '64 Comets across the land! :)

Dave, do you have an item number assigned yet?

I'm working at one of our local shops and I want to make sure we get 2 or 3 of these on the shelf ASAP.
