GLMFAA1 Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 In the 70's Superior ambulance company had this idea of making more room by adding 18 inches in width to their van conversions. The only problem was the wheel track remained the same OEM track causing a very unbalanced ride. While attending the Toledo toy show and the NNL John Kline (AMT4ever) made my day by dropping over to my table and showing me his highly modified Chevy van ambulance. He started out using 2 older AMT vans that had the window option. He used the re released rescue van also. He used brochure Superior emblems in the grille and detailed the interior. I present John's model, excuse the background as these were taken at my vending table. . greg

vincen47 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 What an interesting ambulance, and a great project.
kilrathy10 Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Looks pretty cool....Great model of one of those "Great idea, Poor execution" offerings.....This thing would have a greater tendency of tipping over than a Suzuki Samarai.....Great job on the model, though....Looks fantastic....
Chuck Most Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Very cool model of a very bizarre subject.
S. Svendsen Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I remember seeing one of these as a kid in our town. Great job!
LongRoofNut Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I think there is one (non ambulance) that made a quick appearance in one of the Airport movies (think it was Airport '75) as a airline shuttle bus. I saw the wheels seemed WAY to tucked in. Thought it was the TV or something. But this is simply cool!

misterNNL Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Superior Coach was located in Lima,Oh about 30 miles from where I live and they built some very unique vehicles.Nice model that obviously has a lot of body mods in it. Is that the Toledo NNL hall ceiling I see in the background ?
GLMFAA1 Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 Yes Tom that was at Toledo, I tried to have John stay and enter it in the NNL, Sorry he couldn;t stay because I think all the NNl'ers would heve enjoyed it greg
