signmike Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 I restored this glue bomb because this car reminds me of my young adult years. We would change the engine in it for a potent chevy 327...This made a bomb out of these little sporty and fun to drive cars. I also put a Ford 9 inch in the rear which was badly needed, (Some memories...LOL)
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Kool. The SBC made a great swap in the big Healeys. I remember several, well.
gordon Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Best way to deal with LUCAS the prince of darkness, LOL. Cheers Eh!
Grumpa Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 This is pretty cool Michael! I saw am "MG" at a Goodguys show at Charlotte Motor Speedway a couple of years ago with a 427 in it. the guy had done the swap back in the '70's. Ran like a top! Probably a bear to handle, but.....
signmike Posted October 28, 2014 Author Posted October 28, 2014 Thanks for the comments, I enjoyed doing it thinking of the real car of the past...
Phildaupho Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Cool model. It brings back memories of an article in Hot Rod back in the day about installing a 289 Ford in a Healey. The V-8 weighed 60lbs less than the Healey-6 and moved its weight back to the extent that the front end required lowering!!
Lunajammer Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 So it can be done. I've got just such a glue bomb that had me wondering how involved it would be to drop a V8 into. Thanks for the proof of concept.
signmike Posted October 28, 2014 Author Posted October 28, 2014 Thanks my friends for the nice comments
horsepower Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 In the late sixties there was a local drag racer that raced one of those with a 327, 2x4 cross ram manifold and the allowed engine setback, in a/msp. He always ended up in the final against a new Corvette 427 roadster/convertible, that was sponsored by the local Chevrolet dealership.
signmike Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 A ride in this have to be before any meal rather than after...LOL Thanks again
Chuck Most Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Powerful engine in a light little roadster... Horrifying. For all the right reasons.
