10thumbs Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Hahaha!! About the new silver car!! Several years back the wife went looking at new VW Golfs, as hers was time for trading. She comes home and tells me a silver one would look good, the salesman said they look clean longer. I say BS, you're getting a brand new car, go and have it washed at least once a month!! You don't even have to do it yourself, a machine does it. She got a black one. Now it's always dirty looking. Michael PS: I agree some cars look better in specific colors.

Snake45 Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 Nothing wrong with black (is that a '66 or '67 Acadian? Very cool!), but when you say that everything looks best in black, it kinda sorta misses the point of this particular thread, I think....

Robberbaron Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Mention the Plymouth Prowler, and most people will immediately picture the metallic purple that was the only available color when they were first introduced.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Mention the Plymouth Prowler, and most people will immediately picture the metallic purple that was the only available color when they were first introduced. Inca Gold looks good on em too.
checkmate Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 (edited) Even though a lot of you guys maybe wont recognise the cars: Holden LJ XU1 Torana in Strike Me Pink. Holden L34 Torana in Barbados Green or Caribbean Turquise. Holden A9X Torana sedan or hatch in Palais white. Holden Sandman van in Mint Julip Green. And I've always been partial to Atlantis Blue which was the factory colour of my old van. 68 Camaro in Black! We had a black SS Commodore a few years back and it looked great when it was clean but keeping it clean was impossible. Black is a high maintenance colour but it's worth the work. chunkypeanutbutter Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 What about an orange HJ Sandman like in Mad Max?
Greg Myers Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Inca Gold looks good on em too. They made Pumpkins too
deuces wild Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 69 Camaro, Fathom Green. My old Z/28 was that color...
Jeff Johnston Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Can't argue with your list at all. The only one I might change is the 68 Mustang. I like Lime Gold the best on 67-68 Mustangs, but Highland Green on a 68 sure is a close second for me.
FASTBACK340 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 I tend to think German sports cars in a steel-bluish-silver. Italian Sports cars in Red…. British sports cars in Green, etc. Iconic cars I envision early Mustangs in poppy Red, early GTO's in either Gold or Yellow, Road Runners in Orange, GTX's in Black. VW Beetle (late models) in light blue…. Squareback's too. VW Beetle (early models) in dark blue…. Miata's in that similar Petty-blue they had Interesting topic to jog the brain…..
Quick GMC Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 for me, the one car that comes to mind is a BOSS 429 with the blackest black possible. Corvettes, white with black wheels. ferraris, obviously red, but a 328 in Azuro Blue looks killer http://www.carpictures.com/vehicle/05FE0025105240/Ferrari-328-GTS-blue-1989
sjordan2 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 (edited) What this thread needs is not only the types of colors for particular cars, but the equivalent model paints to reproduce those colors, with brands and code numbers. Otherwise, I don't see the point beyond the obvious. Edited December 20, 2014 by sjordan2
StevenGuthmiller Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Oscar Mayer weinermobiles- red and yellow Best & most obvious one so far!! Otherwise, it's all just preference. Steve
Snake45 Posted December 20, 2014 Author Posted December 20, 2014 I don't see the point beyond the obvious. Um......okay........
Snake45 Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 '69 Camaro's in these colors Lemme see if I can name them all from memory: Dusk Blue (or Black?), Lemans Blue, Garnet Red, Huger Orange, Fathom Green, Rally Green. How'd I do?
tbill Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 luxo blue metallic [2014 color], Nassau blue, crystal red metallic tint [2014 color], hugger orange, metallic dark gray [ could pass for 'tungsten', 2015 color], and finally 'green o'clock', another 2014 color. the dark blue, red and green I ordered from work [Chevy dealer] in spray cans, it's actually touch up paint for 1:1 cars.
sjordan2 Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Um......okay........ Um,,,okay...okay. That really moves the conversation forward. Um.
Cliff Dagger Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 I like Fords in blue Any shade as long as it's blue . Chevys in black or bright red .
