Hahaha!! About the new silver car!! Several years back the wife went looking at new VW Golfs, as hers was time for trading. She comes home and tells me a silver one would look good, the salesman said they look clean longer. I say BS, you're getting a brand new car, go and have it washed at least once a month!! You don't even have to do it yourself, a machine does it.

She got a black one. Now it's always dirty looking.

Michael

PS: I agree some cars look better in specific colors.

Nothing wrong with black (is that a '66 or '67 Acadian? Very cool!), but when you say that everything looks best in black, it kinda sorta misses the point of this particular thread, I think....:unsure:

Even though a lot of you guys maybe wont recognise the cars:

Holden LJ XU1 Torana in Strike Me Pink.

Holden L34 Torana in Barbados Green or Caribbean Turquise.

Holden A9X Torana sedan or hatch in Palais white.

Holden Sandman van in Mint Julip Green.

And I've always been partial to Atlantis Blue which was the factory colour of my old van.

68 Camaro in Black!

We had a black SS Commodore a few years back and it looked great when it was clean but keeping it clean was impossible. Black is a high maintenance colour but it's worth the work. ;)

Can't argue with your list at all. The only one I might change is the 68 Mustang. I like Lime Gold the best on 67-68 Mustangs, but Highland Green on a 68 sure is a close second for me.

I tend to think German sports cars in a steel-bluish-silver. Italian Sports cars in Red…. British sports cars in Green, etc.

Iconic cars I envision early Mustangs in poppy Red, early GTO's in either Gold or Yellow, Road Runners in Orange, GTX's in Black.

VW Beetle (late models) in light blue…. Squareback's too.

VW Beetle (early models) in dark blue….

Miata's in that similar Petty-blue they had

Interesting topic to jog the brain…..

What this thread needs is not only the types of colors for particular cars, but the equivalent model paints to reproduce those colors, with brands and code numbers. Otherwise, I don't see the point beyond the obvious.

Lemme see if I can name them all from memory: Dusk Blue (or Black?), Lemans Blue, Garnet Red, Huger Orange, Fathom Green, Rally Green. How'd I do?

luxo blue metallic [2014 color], Nassau blue, crystal red metallic tint [2014 color], hugger orange, metallic dark gray [ could pass for 'tungsten', 2015 color], and finally 'green o'clock', another 2014 color. the dark blue, red and green I ordered from work [Chevy dealer] in spray cans, it's actually touch up paint for 1:1 cars.
