Anglia105E
This is exactly what I have found, which is that quite ordinary pieces of electrical kit can be dismantled to reveal all manner of useful shaped components that will serve as very convincing parts for scale model cars and engines. landman
And so it begins...or should I say it continues. This gives an idea on how this will be laid out. Edited November 25, 2020 by landman
Gramps46
As always this will be interesting. I am going to copy your right angle former blocks, great idea. Edited October 23, 2018 by Gramps46
landman
Mocking up door locations and added some flooring to the test cell and control area. Â Â Â Â Edited November 25, 2020 by landman
landman
Working on observation window. I think I may make the outside frame out of wood. The tile spacers will become feet for the operators' chairs. This pull cord bezel from an old set of blinds will donate some window frames, pins & bushings. Its corrugated sides will become louvers on some electric panel. Edited November 25, 2020 by landman
landman
Working on the test cell double doors. Made a scale image of this door. will try to replicate it with various materials.

landman
The corrugated cardboard took the primer and the paint well. The control room chairs will look a lot like Trans Am bucket seats. Don's Photos film canister containers will be pressed into electrical service.  They will be made into something similar to the units in this 3D image. landman
This bit from a blind will provide a gauge bezel. This sprue will supply armrests. And this part from the Fujimi garage set and a cheap tire gauge barrel will likely become the cooling tower. Dragonhawk1066
This is hands down the most impressive example of scratch built and detailed scale pieces on the planet. Your ability to find uses for basic every day items is phenomenal. Words cannot really describe how impressive your work is. Makes what I'm doing look like a toddlers' stick figure drawing. Definitely will be trying to replicate some of your ideas.

landman
The console is nearing completion. Couldn't resist a preview shot. The dyno itself is taking shape. Used a Scenes Unlimited bell housing to marl the mounting plate holes. I assume shops have a plate for each possible block. Anglia105E
This is so interesting to follow Pat, and for you this kind of work must be very satisfying. You clearly have a keen eye for each small part that can be used to assemble something totally unrelated to the original object. Thanks for posting your progress so far. David You guys give me too much credit. Everytime I throw something away i check to see if there's something in it with potential, then it goes into the bin. Whenever I look for a particular shape, I rummage in there. Only THEN, does it become something else.
