southpier Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 getting there, but it seems more fun to start another.
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 VERY nice, very realistic. I love the diagonal boards on the outside walls...I remember seeing a lot of structures built like that. Nice correct framing, too.
1930fordpickup Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 (edited) This is very nice. Edited January 13, 2015 by 1930fordpickup
wayne swayze Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 What vehicle will occupy the space Joe? Lots to look at the way it sits.
southpier Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 I'm not sure if it will ever have a vehicle inside. I built it to hold all the waggy-bits that've been saved for years. like the R&D Unique compressor; probably had that sucker for 20 years and never got around to finishing it (still waiting on Precision Scale for a globe valve for the discharge). also have other projects planned to go inside - after I get doors & windows fitted. British Seagull style outboard motor, old motorized reel lawnmower, the list goes on and on and on ... and most of the stuff has a personal meaning. like the Mr Peanut poster, the can of C- rations, and the pictures pinned to the back wall, 5 gallon gas can - even the da**m shovel hanging by the big door and the 1952 license plate (birthday). even though I slipped in a wide flange beam on steel columns which will have a chainfall (at some point), it's meant more to be a regular guy's garage rather than a mechanic's. so there's going to be an accumulation of homeowner BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH - in addition to car stuff. maybe even a box of Christmas decorations up in the rafters ...... some day! thanks for looking.
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Nice work. Never can have to many projects.
misterNNL Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Looking very good Joe.There is always another detail (or 6)that we can add isn't there? Thanks for sharing!
rmvw guy Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Nice work, I admire all your efforts and personal meanings. Thanks for sharing.
afx Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 VERY nice, very realistic. I love the diagonal boards on the outside walls...I remember seeing a lot of structures built like that. Nice correct framing, too. Haven't seen plank sheathing in construction for a very long time. This would be a very old garage.
afx Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 (edited) My guess is you are or have been a carpenter at some point. Per-fab outside corners, bridging, double top plate all nice details. Edited January 28, 2015 by afx
southpier Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 since november 1970; now un-tired, but who's counting? thanks
Danno Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Excellent work! But, um, . . . you number your in-progress projects? Sheesh. If I tried that, I'd run out of numbers!!
Randy D Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Hello Joe, Your garage is outstanding !!!!! All the correct details, you're even bolted to the footing, look great. Randy
southpier Posted March 4, 2015 Author Posted March 4, 2015 of some interest, Ozark Miniatures is now carrying the R&D Unique compressor: can the upright gas pumps be far behind?
charlie8575 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Very nice, Joe. Consider bringing this to MassCar if you make it. Charlie Larkin
