tomsheehy Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 After long last, I have completed this build. I probably started it at least 7 or 8 years ago. I'd check on it now and then, do 1 or 2 things to it, then back in the box. But I finally had the stamina to get it done. It is a resin kit mastered and made by Promolite (Tom Coolidge). I believe he sold the molds to another aftermarket company afterward, but I got this one from him. I was originally going to do a full detail build, but finally settled on this "curbside" build with the resin chassis. There's basically no underside detail, and what is there is not accurate as a Pontiac, but that's not important for this curbside. I added clear sheet plastic for all windows, bare metal foil where applicable and all the police accessories from my parts box. The Georgia State Patrol lettering is computer generated and the door emblem is Chimneyville. The decals were done way back when and were pretty tough to work with, but I finally got them to look the part. The whip antenna is scratch built from jewelry parts from Hobby Lobby. The fender light might be a bit big, I might change it to something smaller. Georgia State Patrol did use these Pontiacs, I have images of 1949 and 1950 models in this paint scheme. Here's a few images of the build...
Bill Coulter Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Really good to see you haven't lost that special touch on such subjects. Thanks so much for sharing with everybody. BC

DumpyDan Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Wow man that is cool, I have done a couple cop cars in the past, they are always a blast to build. You did a great job. Bravo!
Jonathan Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Very, very nice! How did you do that antenna? And, where'd you get the light and siren; or did you scratch-build those parts, too? It's how I imagine the police cars that my Dad tells stories about from his youth.
ChrisBcritter Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 "Well, the Georgia patrol was a-makin' the rounds..." Sweet job with this one! I take it the original master was based on that '49 Olds diecast bank?
Helix Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Good job Tom, I can hear that old school siren wailing !
Ramfins59 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 That's a great looking car Tom. I may try to pick up one of those cars.
peekay Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Fantastic job, Tom! And so great to see a model of a car I've never seen a model of.
