hooterville75
Whats everyones opinion about the Nascar Craftsman Trucks racing on Dirt at Eldora Speedway in 2013 ? Its actually on the schedule already for next season for July 24th or July 25th one of the two. I know Ill be there for sure checking this out. Nascar hasnt ran on Dirt since 1970. This will be the first since then. They actually have a clip of Tony Stewart and Austin Dillon testing the Nascar Craftsman Trucks on Eldora Speedway at www.speed.com
bbowser
I think it'll be cool! Leave it to Tony (since he owns Eldora)
martinfan5
Been hearing this was going to happen for awhile now, I think its a great idea, I know I will not be missing the race on TV
Draggon
About time NASCAR did something right. The video is great. "Dirt is for racing, asphalt is for getting there"
James2
All though the truck series is the best of the top three, some of those guys can't drive on asphalt. What will happen on the dirt?
JustBill
That's freaking awesome!
Psychographic
Well it looks like it's finally going to happen, the trucks are going to Earl's Place (yea, I know it Tony's now), that's right the trucks are going to run at Eldora. dmk
Are these things basically the same as regular stock cars, but just with truck looking bodies instead of car looking bodies?
Mark R
I think it should make for a very interesting show !
ZTony8
I'm a little surprised that this is going to happen. It's a good idea but the teams now have to construct a special truck to run only at this one track. That costs money and the teams frequently complain about expenses like this one. Most truck series teams are small and low budget so it creates a financial burden on them. Green Duster
I have always thought that nascar should have a couple dirt races for the cup series. Then let those guys complain about the set up. LOL! One more of my rants. Not really a rant, but you though there was alot of bumping and grinding in the truck series before. Look out now! W-409
That sounds like very good news to me. It's a shame that we don't have NASCAR series here, or it doesn't come even from TV. What engine does that Truck Have? It sounds very weird to me.

BKcustoms
This race I might actually watch Same here, I have very little interest in NASCAR, but I'm a huge fan of dirt cars. (probably because my dad's house is like 5 minutes away from the local dirt track lol)

Supposedly the only change is removing the splitter.
bbowser
Are these things basically the same as regular stock cars, but just with truck looking bodies instead of car looking bodies? For those wondering, yes they are basically a Sprint Cup chassis with truck body panels and a reduced HP engine. The COT was designed with features from the truck series, such as moving the driver inboard a little and making the greenhouse a little taller. It should be an interesting show for sure! One thing I've noticed during truck races is that they almost never adjust the wedge or sway bar during a race. I don't know if it's not allowed or difficult to do? Their races are much shorter generally so they don't pit as often, another cost saving measure.
Guest Johnny
It has been reported that the Truck Series races are going to include heat races as part of the new format too!
peter31a
Not only dirt but they're coming up here to race at Mosport! (O.K. Canadian Tire Motorsport Park). They'll have to figure out how to turn right as well as left!
Tommy Kortman
When I heard about this a few weeks ago, I was skeptical, but hopeful. I think it's FANTASTIC!!! I can't wait to: "A" See heat races, and "B" watch some of these asphalt cry babies learn what it's like to race on a real surface. There are definitly a few of these guys who will have an advantage. Glad to see they are heading to Canada too, and back on a road course again. I hope Fellows runs the Mosport race.

Rob Hall
Neat idea..never seen a race on dirt. Kind of retro, like the early days of NASCAR. I'd also love to see Sprint Cup add another road course race..at the new Circuit of the Americas track...
