MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. I was a bread route salesman for 25 years with Holsum bread. Absolutely loved that job, but unfortunately it was purchased by Sara Lee, and ultimately sold to Bimbo Bakery. I was the highest in seniority at my plant, and had an excellent severance. Purchasing and owning my own route was not an option for me. Maybe if I was 30 years younger, I might have, so I took the severance. Then I drove tractor trailer for Coca Cola. That, IMO was the hardest job. And I’ll just leave it at that, without getting into details.
  2. Absolutely stunning build Paul. All the extra work you put into preparing the parts paid off. Everything, from under the hood to the differential looks fantastic. Nice job on this one.
  3. That would be a nice addition to any kit. I do believe there is a 57 Chevy kit, and a few others that do have some sort of PE detail in the box. But, a real simple solution, is to have the quality control department do their job, before giving the ok to mold the kit.
  4. Thanks for this info Michelle. I guess if I score the front and rear body parts, I can live with the 68 interior.
  5. I decided to build this car for myself. I haven’t heard from my friend since he originally contacted me. Not too concerned with the ram bar, or the wheels, as Fireball has both of those. I have a sealed 68 kit, but I’ll still need the front and rear body parts. Is the 68 interior the same as the 69? If not maybe Bill might still have those parts?
  6. The only problem there, is MCG details will add another 20 plus dollars to a new kit, that, IMO, should have the molded scripts done correctly.
  7. I pre ordered mine ( K code) from an online hobby source. I should have ordered from eBay. I thought I’d save a few bucks, but actually what I paid is in line with the eBay prices, with shipping. And I still didn’t receive mine yet. I already bought the touring kit over a week ago from eBay, so at least I have that one.
  8. A fellow member on this board sent me this.
  9. Sometimes a good old toothpick, and some patience will get the job done nicely. Dabbing a toothpick in the color you choose, and tap the excess off, so it doesn’t blob on your work. Also using a water based acrylic works fantastic, because if you do mess up, you can easily clean it up and start over.
  10. Another rock icon is gone. Rolling Stone just reported that Ace has passed at 74. After a fall, he had brain bleed and was on life support. Sad day for Rock And Roll. I’ve been a KISS fan since 1975. RIP Ace.
  11. Thanks for the pics Tim. About a year ago, I was in the process of building the AMT 64 Comet into a 427 Super Stock car. But, I traded the WIP for two 55 Chevies. I just might start that build again using either this kit, or the K Code kit. It appears I’d be re working the hood back to a flat hood, and adding a teardrop scoop. Everything else in the pics looks great. I’m waiting for my pre ordered kit to arrive from Wes’s Model Car Corner. I’ll most likely be purchasing another real soon.
  12. 1. Nice save on the paint job. 2. I don’t think the 62 is ugly at all. Very unique looking car to be honest. I have three of these. One white, one yellow, and one red. I like what you are doing with yours, Bill. Sometimes it’s just rewarding to build it how it came, even if the interior is a bit off. All the hacking and putty, sanding etc, gets to be a pain sometimes. Can’t wait to see it finished.
  13. Well, it appears that it is in two carts right now. It doesn’t mean one will actually buy it though. But some people do have more money than brains.
  14. By far, one of the coolest builds I’ve ever seen of these AWB cars. The rear window delete, and the holes drilled in the package tray, all very tastefully done. Very nice!
