Big Rig Mock upβs
asfastasu replied to Pete68's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I'll play ball. This is my ongoing project for the last 2 years-ish. It's going to be a replica of a truck I used to ride along in with my Dad. This was when I wasn't old enough to go to school yet so he was delegated(Mom was working also) to taking me along with him and is the reason I like trucks. It had a Detroit in it. The hood is one I got off of Epay a long time ago. The real truck was maroon/burgundy and white. I included a picture of the real McCoy, but it's a picture of a picture, so I apologize, it's (along with my 45 yr old memory) all I have to go off of. Thanks. -
Nice π! What's the body color?
-
Can't go wrong with this kit, it's a nice one. Love the colorπ

This is nicely done π. What paint did you use in the body? Is the interior a dark blue? I wouldn't think that a blue interior and orange exterior would work, but you have convinced me otherwise!! Great job!!

Dodge Magnum V8 (318/360)
asfastasu replied to olschoolkid's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm not sure of the transmission that is offered in the Tamiya. It's not my model, got the pics off of a Google search. I think the real transmission might be a 46re. That's what my 96 Ram had. I don't think the Tamiya kits can be had too cheaply, either. -

Like I said, there is a Magnum offered by Tamiya, but, it's not very good. The valve covers are about the only thing resembling a Magnum, maybe the airhat, maybe if you squint hard enough....... -

Nobody offers a Magnum 318/360 in kit form except Tamiya. Go figure. I think in this kit. And even at that, it's kinda goofy looking. -
'81 Bronco

Looks good, really good. The paint colors on the body are what really pulls this model together, I love it! -
Good job, nice example of a seldomly seen kit. Again, nice choices for a period correct paint/color combo.
-
Job well done, very nice. The silver and blue color combination works out well. The engine bay is weathered very well and thought-out. Top notch!
-
Coming together nicely. The colors you chose work very well. I never have heard of mirror mounted wipers! Learned something new today.
-
Good call on the colors, I like the 2 tone you used. Can't wait to see it with the clear.

Awesome π. I'll be watching. Have a soft spot for these older Tamiya kits.

A&N Model trucks will be doing a Kenworth w990

That's cool. Should add to the realism as they would be thinner then plastic. Thanks for the reply.π -

Nicely done! What color did you use on the body?

First build of 2022 - Tamiya's (vintage!) Datsun 280ZX
asfastasu replied to Jonathan's topic in Model Cars
Nice buildup. Was watching your WIP on this one and it suddenly appeared here!! Did you use Tamiya light blue pearl on the body? Anyway the color suits it. Good job. -
BRBO International 4300 to 4200
asfastasu replied to Vettegasser's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Great idea on making your own instead of forking over a tower of cash for an original f4270 kit! How much did you take out of the hood? -
Congratulations on a job well done. I really like the interior. Tamiya kits are usually a joy to put together.
-
Nice. What color did you use on it? Is this the Fujimi or Hasegawa kit?
-
Sorry for your loss. It's good to have a hobby, one that you enjoy. It looks like it was a Mopar or no car year for you, nice builds, especially the Super Bees. Kudos to you on a top shelf diorama to display them in!!
-
Very well done. Love the color and great job on the video. I just picked up the Fujimi z432r a couple of weeks ago, love the Z cars.

Yeah, I think a Miata mashup will be in order one day. But I've too many projects on the go, that's why I nominate you to do it.lol
-
Nice build. I like the green/tan combination. Nothing deflates a build for me like a paint issue, glad to see you worked through it. I gotta get a Miata kit soon, would like to get a Revell issue as it has an engine, but I'd still welcome a Tamiya!
