Take it from me, owner of similar but newer, you'll be glad you got it. My late father, an expert multi-decade machinist, built mine up for me and likely is rolling in his grave to see the way I barely know the most rudimentary basics of how to use it. But when ya need something small to be perfectly round and/or drilled straight and true, these beat the heck out of trying to hand-file something round or trying to hand-drill something with a Dremel tool.

NM native here. I used to live in the mountains just east of Albuquerque on Rt 66, but they put that city (with who knows what foreign alphabet letter after the capital letter "A") over a bit south of where Fort Sumner is. 'Artificial not-so-intelligence' should just stick to rendering 1950s American cars with 3 headlights and impossible angles on the chrome front bumpers ....

We'll see. Lady just moved in 3 weeks back, talked to her once, seemed like a nice person. In such situations, it's best to tread carefully, repair workers come & go, but a neighbor is someone usually not leaving anytime soon, so it's best not to make enemies out of 'em. I'll ask if the repair guy was a particular name of one I've heard of working in the neighborhood, and if she says no, it's a friend/relative of hers, that's when you keep your mouth shut. If she says he is the local repair guy who's doing a great job, same deal. If a wacko weirdo has the gall to trespass, tries walk off with stuff, and gets huffy when called out on that, the person might also be the type who retaliates by any means possible if a friendly client warns him about a complaint against him.

No wall between my backyard-side neighbor and my little property, I see one of my items over in that yard, no clue how it ended up over there, so I go and retrieve it and put right back where it was last sitting. Hour or so later I look out my window over there, my item is in their yard again, some worker doing repair work has helped himself to using it. When he go goes around the side of their house to his work truck, I snag back my item and stash it out of his view if he returns. Should be the end of the situation. Another hour goes by, the worker trespasses all the way into my patio, knocks on my door and sneers at me that my item is "safe from him now," then walks back out the way he came in. I figured he had come over to apologize for using something that wasn't his, so I was stunned for a moment before I said — nice guy that I really am — "I'm happy to share, you just have to ask permission first." Some folks got a lot of nerve …..

In the last decade or so, I've seen a variety of online barnfind backstories - owner arrested long ago and doing a life term without parole / owner bought before going off to fight and die in a war / super rich dude flat forgot where one of his many cars was stashed / hidden from husband long ago out of sheer spite / critical part busted and owner just never got around to fixing it, etc, etc.

Any entertaining story as to why it was stashed so long ago?

Da interwebs is sometimes a cruel place where spiffy image links can disappear overnight. Did a Google search for "Corvette Camper" and turned up an oddball page that showed it, which also looks dubious to link to, so I got a screengrab of the image to upload to our nice safe site here.

Seemed to be a great turnout both for the vendors and in the quality of contest entries today. Glad to catch up with some old friends there as well! Don't have any pics myself, looking forward to others who do have 'em.

Still trying to spend your money for ya -- while the V8 in it might sound great, us multi-cylinder nuts would prefer a V12 sound. One out of a Mercedes SL600 should do, but also put the MBenz emblems on it to replace the Ferrari ones. That should send all the purists off screaming into the night. 😱😂

1986 VW GTI. Got it used in late '93 with 86k, little gear broke on the odo the next year, my estimate is it now has around 330k miles.

It's why I'm keeping my 39 year-old daily driver. Where the bulb connects in the back to the headlight bucket is in plain sight, twist the plastic retainer sleeve to remove the bulb, buy a replacement for around $20, unplug the old one, plug in the new one.

Not able to help, beyond saying I'd never heard of one of these before, so I looked it up. Could be my composite photo out of the article might trigger somebody saying they'd seen a scale version somewhere, but might not have known what the name of it was ...

Actually, what unexpectedly after the above photo was taken was that a pan dimensional / anti gravity anomaly occurred, resulting in the car splitting in two, twice … sorta … and then it just floated off and has been hanging around in various places ever since. (I figured saving this guy's illustrations page link would come in handy someday)

Yep, same as a newer re-issue. Been informally following your WIP and Carl Roberts' "Cord with an Audi engine" WIP, too, you guys both sorta reawakened the Edsel Cord idea I'd had rattling around in my head for a while. Eyeballed some of the details in both WIPs to sort out whether the eBay lister of this cheap one was offering a Monogram or the lesser quality Pyro kit version.

Top set. '80s fan I am of steamroller width tires, but not so much of the "rubberband dimension" sidewalls which virtually makes my back hurt from thinking how much rougher they ride over bumps.

Monogram '37 Cord, unpainted white molded version ancient buildup, most likely the '60s - 1970 issue judging from how it took me 45 minutes to clean who knows how many years of tobacco tar film off it. A penny short of $15 with shipping, not too far into gluebomb territory. Those headlight covers must have been quite a frustration for the long-ago builder. Certainly ripe for customizing. Did you guys know Henry Cord's son Edsel Lincoln Cord (everybody called him E.L. for short) secretly made his hot rod Lincoln 1939 prototype as a front wheel drive? I didn't know that, either, but I'll be able to prove it by altering this thing that way.
