  1. In that case, it'll do. Sorry Andy...I didn't realize you were 13! Thats about the age i started as well. When i was in school..i'd pick it up as soon as I got home. When I was all done with school i'd play 15 hours a day. I literally had my mockingbird on me at every waking hour! That went on for 10 years or so..it was so bad! I even had to choose between my guitar and my girlfriend..guess which one won hehe I was 2 years past legal drinking age before I even went to my first bar! Play every moment you can!
  2. First..calling Dire Straits Metal is like calling Jethro Tull Metal...it just aint so! Dont do that! Then, Check out second hand shops, they're usually a great source of cheap, but really good equipment like distortion pedals, equalizer pedals or whatever else you might need. You could save a small fortune at those places. also, built in distortion is never any good in my experience, avoid using it if you can!
  3. I agree..cheap guitars are more discouraging than anything else to a new guitar player. The mindset is usually " I'll buy myself / my kid a cheap guitar, and if i/he keeps up with it i'll buy a good one". Well , going that route will more than likely kill the desire to play. Cheap guitars are, well..garbage. They usually have insanely high action, fret buzz and a few dead frets. eventually the guitar gets put aside and forgotten .Spend a few extra dollars, you wont regret it
  4. Nope...not in my opinion...unless I'm a heartless jerk as well. It' really is too bad..Those are the risks
  5. Looks almost identical to the one that came with my CH compressor years back, just a different color
  6. Not intending to thread hijack but...when you've tried that extension can you let me know here if you like it? I been thinking of buying one but have no idea how well they work. I'd really appreciate a thumbs up/down on that little piece of hardware.
  7. Pretty sure I know why it happened..aside from rushing so i didn't miss Bill Maher. I had the nozzle open way too much. I should have known, didnt take long to get full coverage. I usually use Don Yosts method, and apply super thin coats. It's been sitting in the dehydrator since last night. It's probably ready to sand now but i'll let it cook another 12 hours just to be sure
  8. Have a black BC Rich Mockingbird NJ Series..been playing 30 years or so. Since i heard Iron Maidens Killers. Just had to learn how to play like that
  9. I used my Paashe airbrush to apply it. I also used Testors Candy Red |Enamel, sorry, I should have included that in my post ---Mike
  10. I was in too much of a hurry to get this dine before Bill Maher came on. It's covered in orange peel. This is my first candy paint job so i don't know exactly what to do with this. Is this salvageable with some sanding or rubbing compound? Or do I have to dunk it and strip it?
  11. Ahh, take an old car, make everything under the sheet metal modern, performance and handling-wise but leave the outside appearance origional. Great site, took me no time to find the definition. Thanks\!
  12. Just checking out some of Reliable resins great products and came across "Pro Touring" tires. What is Pro Touring?
  13. I used to be the same way. when i got back into building, i came here, and SA..and tried to get my paint to lay down like the perfect jobs i see here. I expected to be able to do it since i was using techniques that were tried and true for others. I learned, painfully that it doesnt work that way. I was well into my second year and still hadnt had a finished body! pretty bad, but I learned that you can have all the info in the world, and it wont do you any good until you realise you have to progress to that level!
  14. Mine are engines as well..a distributor is nooo problem..battery as well..anything else is over my head. that's why I've spent a small fortune on engine reference books, text book, manuals, a ton of magazines and so much more. I also rely on the talent |I see here when it comes to wiring engines. Pro Stock/FunnyCar/Dragsters..I love those cars but know nothing about those engines. So when I see a nice build here I'll copy the images and save them for possible future builds. Painting is another one. Assembling can be a pain for me as well since \i have rheumatoid arthritis in my fingers..and everywhere else for that matter! So..that's, engines, painting, assembly....come to think of it....why do I even build!!
  15. Some of you might appreciate this one...this was a great show back in the day The Top 11 Naughtiest Moments in Animaniacs
  16. 44 years old and I still watch Bugs Bunny, as well as the modern adult toons of course
  17. I took mine apart to clean it out , but didnt pay attention to what might be a crucial positioning of the needle. Does it matter which direction the hole on the needle is pointing? Does it need to be at the 12 o'clock position or does it not matter Also, does the nut inside of the tip need to be very tight? Afew times when i've opened up the tip for more paint flow, it didnt close tightly afterwards because it came loose..leaving the packing gasket free to move around inside the tip. ===Mike
  18. Groucho has to be the funniest person ever to have lived! ALan Alda second
  19. The funniest are GW quotes IMO "You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror" "The same folks that are bombing innocent people in Iraq were the ones who attacked us in America on September the 11th." "I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe -- I believe what I believe is right" - The Zipperfish commentary on this is hilarious "Too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country" - That one is priceless
  20. These things look easy enough to make, but does anyone know of a how-to out there on the interweb?
