" THE " ugly duckling of the early sixties. 1962 Dodge Dart
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Slowly,,,,But surely Rear wheels from the Moebius AFX kits Rear tires from the AMT tires parts pack, Ft wheels from the AMT 62 Impala chromed with the fusion chrome paint Stance is too low in the ft for sure. But I like it. I'm calling it more a 'tribute build ' instead of a true replica anyway. But I'm liking this one more and more as it goes along -
R-model Shelby Mustangs

Great builds And I thought I had a glutton for punishment doing 2 cars at same time . Im such an amateur . Im not a Ford fan persay. But do have a soft spot for the R model cars though Excellent pkg for the day that did very well overall I had an opportunity to visit the Brothers Collection this past spring. And they own a few of these cars ps, If you ever get an invite to see their collection in person, TAKE IT. Its worth the trip trust me -
I have several. Including a couple that simply comes down to or all of the following Sometimes its a parts availability is the issue How to do something I want to do can be a barrier Sometimes I just get distracted and it gets forgotten about Only to be found years later How many I have in said que ?, Deep down I have no idea . But its several for sure

An awb 65 Dodge hardtop converted to a sedan
gtx6970 replied to R. Thorne's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Ps, Fred Cady made a sheet to do either of the Norm AFX cars And I think Southern Motorsports now owns the rights to the Fred Cady decal line and was doing them Not sure if they still are or not -
An awb 65 Dodge hardtop converted to a sedan
gtx6970 replied to R. Thorne's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Correct. Amblewagon did the original 12 cars and they all were 2 door hardtops EXCEPT Bill Flynns Yankee Peddler was the only sedan done by them AFTER the original 12 were done Any others were privateer shop conversions The red Mr Norm sedan car was done 1st moving rear axle only at the beginning. But the Ft axle was moved a short time later The blue/silver hardtop, (Then red silver ) was the Lindamood Color me Gone car Norm also owned the Butch Leal 2 door hardtop car as well. But it was crashed on the streets of Chicago and parted out before it ever hit the dragstrip as a Mr Norm car livery. As to what order the 3 cars were owned/raced ,,,,, I have no idea EXCEPT I think the sedan was the last one. -

MPC’S COLOR ME GONE 1966-1968 DODGE CHARGER FUNNY CARS
gtx6970 replied to M W Elky's topic in Drag Racing
Looking good I have the 67 Built. And an original issue MPC 68 MPC issue to build The Polar Lights kits are perfect as is for the 69 CMG car which was a mini body . As opposed the 68 and 67 both were full bodied cars Sadly NO ONE does the decals to do it -
I have the scoop for sure Slicks maybe. Ill ck tonight FYI, If you have a set/ The slicks from the AMT parts packs fit the Mobeius rims perfectly
-
Updated photos I was stripping another body. SO dropped this one in the tank with it Came out A LOT better. IMO a light coat of primer will make it good as new
-
Overall , looks like a good kit I already have a few of the old AMT versions and with no real desire to build one stock ( Both of mine are slated to be old drag cars) NOW,,, should they decide to release say the SOX MARTIN or DYNO DON versions. Then I may have to have one or 2 and make my life easier
-
A decal sheet that came with a 67 GTX kit I picked up. And really have no desire to use these Anyone interested Pm lets talk
-
If I decide to build one stock, Im thinking this , just for grins Webber DCOE Slant 6 - Texas3DCustoms A friend of mine has one of the actual intakes. Not sure what he plans to do with it
-
I don't see the odds are I'll ever do anything with these 2 Im a mopar fan and 60s and early 70s door slammer cars Stock, SS ,very early pro stocks , Pre 1972 Funnycars etc etc etc So offer me something good and you may own them Its basically 2 complete cars , Missing one red tail light Lense and the windshield for the vert is missing Im not 100% sure one of the chassis are for this actual kit . But with some minor work it can be made to Or do like I did and modify a Lindberg chassis Convertible is unpainted and has a crack in the pass side of the upper windshield frame. Hdtp was painted and started to strip and never went thru with it. So it needs stripped Ck out the photos and pm me if they are of interest. I would prefer both go same time. But might entertain something one at a time Edit I've added a couple pictures. The convertible body has been sanded on The gills on rear and emblems on ft fenders have been removed And the grill opening has been modified ( see pictures )

Very cool. I wasn't aware Revell did this particular car I have a soft spot for a 1978 Vette. and a part of me would like to own one, Preferably a pace car. Actually came real close to own a silver annv car about 18 months ago. But it was an L48 car and I really wanted an L82 car., Plus I would much prefer a black/Silver pace car

The best motivation for me is seeing builds here. Plus it gives me ideas for the next one. I try hard to keep the numbers of in process builds to one or 2, with 3 tops . MY struggle is I see pictures of builds and/or the actual cars and the mind starts wandering. So I'll look thru the stash to see if I have that kit or something I can make it from. Been several times I have to make myself put it down and concentrate on whats now Lots of times on my searches I stumble on projects that I started on and put away for one reason or another. Most are 10 years and older So I dig them out, doing my best to keep it one at a time. And force myself to work on that one and do 'something' with it . Some go to the bench, Others go to the need to go away pile

" THE " ugly duckling of the early sixties. 1962 Dodge Dart
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Trying to decide on tires Between close to the actual car with Black side walls Or dual pinstripe White walls, which is kind of the way I'm leaning. As I think It looks "right" for the period With the mods/ variations im going to make with the headers and rear axle. IMO its more a " tribute" build as opposed to a replica persay Parts pack tires . Rims from the Mobeius AFX kits -

MOST of the BMF work is done Need a sharper blade to finalize the fender trim Body . Interior and chassis are now one Time to finish up the engine and suspension in next few days That little Dodge emblem was done with a VERY fine brush. My lighted magnifier and fusion chrome paint Turned out A LOT better than I expected. -

This work ? -
I'll add here If you use the Lindberg Plymouth as your doner using said kits inner fenders, You have to cut a portion from the body and glue to the inner fenders. Otherwise, you will have a huge gap in that area If you have a 64 Dodge parts kit. use the inner fenders from it. As they are nearly the exact same except for shown missing area, Thus This mod is not required as the inner fender panel is molded complete Not a huge deal if you don't have the Dodge kit to part out. But every little bit helps Myself I already had a Plymouth body cut up for a different build. So decided to just cut the areas out and glue to my inner fenders.

On the '62 Dodge body. After grinding out the radiator support you need to open it up a little behind the head light area to get the Lindberg radiator support / inner fenders to fit down in it right Shown modified beside a unmodified '62 Dodge body This area does not need to be done in the '63 Dodge body, shown beside the uncut '62 Dodge body. In this picture you can see the bump in the 62 that the 63 does not have. This bump needs ground down some. Dont go to crazy and risk going thru the body, as not much is required . Best I can tell All that needs done to the '63 is remove the molded in radiator support
