  1. Following as i have been pondering the exact same question
  2. Just heads up. its on its way via USPS 1st class mail
  3. Thanks. Saw those. But none of those are on my want list
  4. I use duplicolor clear acrylic lacquer over tamiya colors all the time.
  5. looks good from my view
  6. I have a parted out Revell 1969 kit if you need any 69 specific parts to convert the 68 Tail lights and rear body panel, interior , grille etc etc etc BUT , IMO the door scallops are more accurate to the 1/1 car MPC/AMT versus the Revell body
  7. First Ive ever heard of this . I wonder what could be used as a baseline to do this build in scale for the body
  8. A good read on both the S-M car. As well as the Jack Werst SS wingcars from back then https://classracer.com/classforum/showthread.php?t=33830
  9. Agreed, all my sox martin Johan kits ( 71 cuda and superbird ) have the same exact decal sheet . Its marked with the 71 Cuda kits number
  10. Thanks. I was hoping maybe someone is / was 3d printing a body. And yes...I knew it was a long shot. Ill take a look at your suggestions .
  11. I meant model kit or the body
  12. Any one know of a source for this one
  13. Ill lay some primer / sealer on it this weekend Fingers crossed.all goes well
  14. In between working on tile work of a bathroom shower remodel I got to spend some time today cleaning up mold flash , and fitting the resin 6pack hood Got all the side markers filled and sanded smooth Engine is almost done . Interior is painted in a satin white ' Current plan is keep it a box stock build, and paint the resin hood ( fingers crossed that goes well ) . And I will display it both ways The only picture with the hood up that I can find shows the car still stock hood and air cleaner . So I assume its still a SS/E car at the time
  15. Thanks all for the ideas. I went with super glue, just took several fill and sand attempts But they are gone
  16. There was a time I wanted detail and more detail. But as I got older and maybe even wiser , so to speak I feel like I like the nostalgia part of it more than anything. I like to build models , but not ones that require a college degree to do so. Do I want the finished product to be accurate to the car Im trying to replicate? Sure. Who doesnt But do I worry about one vent window being 1mm wider that the other? Not a chance. If the finished product looks like what my mind envisioned. I'm good. Take the recent MPC demon as an example. The engine in that kit is WAY underscale . But the body looks really nice to me now that they fixed the ft wheel openings compared to the original. So I'm for one tickled pink its back. And could care less its a basic lower parts count kit . Its looks great in my case. I don't do contests. Once they are done. I may take some pictures and post in social media. But Im not building for the approval of the general audience. I build for me and me alone. They go in my case and my family can deal with them once I'm breathing dirt. Does it bother me this current company is riding on the nostalgia of the Johan name? not really. We all like the idea of Johan coming back. But face it. Its not happening. Most would complain of the quality if they did anyway Jumps off soapbox now Model on boys and girls I am off to the bench to work on my model kit
  17. The one I just bought has the vinyl one piece tires. Also the decals are different than the reissue version
  18. Not stock for sox.martin kit. Stock for Petty bird kit only
  19. I now.have 3 of the SM birds. All 3 have Keystone Classic wheels And no stock wheels
  20. Like the tile says. Im on the hunt for the original cartoon box Johan 1969-1970 Plymouth kits , In all honesty, I would actually prefer just the boxes if they are decent. I have the kits Only ones I need are 1970 Roadrunner 1970 Superbird Petty car 1969 Roadrunner
  21. I'm not a Ford guy. But,, this kit is on my want list for sure Ive watched a few of this guys builds He's not shy with paint or glue . But in the end he makes for a decent looking shelf replica . Even with the silver sharpie for the window trim . It looks pretty good
  22. There is no flat metal plate on 4 spd versions There is a lower bell hsg shield ( engine color ) , But its NOT flat
  23. Thanks. I have a few of the Recent re-issue versions of both the SM car and the Petty car. Out of maybe 4 kits , only 1 is molded in white and thats a SM bird. My 2nd SM bird is molded in a blueish turquoise color My Petty Birds are molded in 1 green and 1 blue But would like to have the original issue SM version, Just because What about the decals compared to the more recent issue, were they the same and have the correct corresponding kit number on the back of said decals. In this case kit C108-200 ? I know the more recent issues share the same sheet with the SM 1971 Cuda and are marked with the Cudas kit number I like the Petty version because it can be built replica stock right out of the box.
