1972 Ford F100 replica build possible
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This might work, If I can come up with the 4wd stuff I can add a 3d printed 1972 grill easy enough Provided the upper and lower trim is on the body in this particular kit -

Is the 70 F100 an actual 1/2 ton 4wd? Box art shows 3/4 ton 8 lug wheels No it will be stock white steel wheels and beenie style hubcaps Rims on it are simply to make it roll while under construction Truck is 360 4spd -
1972 Ford F100 replica build possible

Is the side trim molded in the body on the upper trim level kits or separate glue on pieces ? I could maybe get by with the short bed kit and add my own trim and buy a 3d printed 72 Grill But its the 1/2 ton 4wd stuff that is an issue I would really like to make this build just like the actual truck , If at all possible -

Any of them half ton 4wd , or Any aftermkt people making the half ton 4wd pieces ? -
Very Nice. Im on a vintage SS kick at the moment so odds are this one will come close to front of the line pretty easily

We will see on Friday. Im not interested in over paying for one just because of the box its in . As I can get the current Belv kit and swap in the Revell Hemi ( Ive already done a test fit. It will drop in like it was made for it ) And there are lots of people parting out hemi Dart kits or I have a few extra Sox - Martin 67 GTXs I can part if I need to , ( Also cheap to buy ) I already have one Leal kit here ,another one coming. But would like a 3rd as I have decals for it Plan is 1= Butch Leal SS ( I already have his AFX car built from a long ago Good Stuff resin kit ) 1 = Ferris Motors ( preferably Larry Griffith 4spd version if I can get the decals altered from the Jack Ferris auto ) 1 = As the Jenkins driven Burgess / Black Arrow car A 4th version on my todo list by chance I possible - Do the Sox Martin SS car before it became the Paper Tiger 2

Thanks The 1/1 cars ran an 8mm solid core wire, I think these ( pre wired dist from Morgan Automotive detail ) fit the bill about right I wanted to glue the exhaust pipes to the side of the headers, like on the actual car ,,,,But I cut them off ever so slightly short to do so

Its already on my watch list

Nice, I keep forgetting about the Comet I have the decals, a 64 Comet kit and a partial Thunderbolt kit to use to build it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,someday.

Nice job Great kit - decals suck

I got into a mood thus weekend and Made offers on and was accepted on 2 Dave Stricklers 1965 AFX cars, still sealed. Also ordered decal sheets to do the Mr Norm blue/silver car and the Bobby Harrop 1965 Dodge AFX cars for the above Also,,,Made an offer and bought a 1965 Butch Leal 65 Belv, autographed by the man himself ( at least so says the seller )

Very nice. I want to replicate the hauler. Where did you get the truck ? And the 68 RR, But that one is a ways down the to do list , Next SM car for me is probably the 68 Barracuda and/or the Paper Tiger AFX cars
-
I would take an unbuilt Butch Leal 65 plymouth kit in partial trade Ps. For the right trade. I will include a 1972 front bumper and 1972 grill insert Full disclosure..the bumper might be white resin. I'm not real sure either way I do not have any other 72 parts

Needs to be complete Except But decals need not be present or mint
-
Actually...I do not. But think I may get one My go to for reference is my old magazine collection. And Google

Thanks Ive gathered dozens of photos of any - every Sox-Martin 67 GTX I could. In MOST , of them the ones with class SS/E designation markings AND various sponsor decals ( both Dougs or Hooker headers ) the car has the upper body line mldg , aka 67 Belv 2. Its the car that has virtually no decals and no class designations , IMO was the Photo op / Clinic car My gut tells me is most likely became one of the active cars in some point ? Or,,,Maybe it didnt. Its my understanding by the 1967 season they were full on salaried Chrysler paid employees, so it makes sense a photo op car existed to promote the brand. Thanks for the info and comments to all This one is one of my favorites

Thanks. ...Pretty much confirms my thoughts Seems to be " most " of the photos of a white interior car. It's not lettered with a class designation of any kind. And posed as if strictly for photo opp moments To add even more confusion to the mix. I have a few pictures of a white interior car. WITH SS/E class designation. And in each one it has the upper body line mldg like a Belv 2 has . Yet most do not have said mldg. Which adds fuel to the thought / makes me believe they did in fact swap powertrains in a single body to change classes As to when each photo was taken obviously have no idea to make some kind of time line for the car

Agreed But i went thru just about every mopar kit I had with a wedge - headers . I wanted to use the set from the lindberg series....but couldn't get them to fit the engine compartment / chassis and still look reasonable. Even tried too heat the hemi headers up and squish the 2 center tubes together....that failed miserably and ended up in the trash can The only one that actually fit both the engine and chassis Was from the Landy SS/E Dart kit. But rather not part one of those kits out .. that kit is getting expensive.
