Johan body using the modern Lindberg chassis conversion

I'll add here If you use the Lindberg Plymouth as your doner using said kits inner fenders, You have to cut a portion from the body and glue to the inner fenders. Otherwise, you will have a huge gap in that area If you have a 64 Dodge parts kit. use the inner fenders from it. As they are nearly the exact same except for shown missing area, Thus This mod is not required as the inner fender panel is molded complete Not a huge deal if you don't have the Dodge kit to part out. But every little bit helps Myself I already had a Plymouth body cut up for a different build. So decided to just cut the areas out and glue to my inner fenders. -

Wheelbase comparison between the 62 versus 63, is ever so slightly different . Enough to cause concern ? is up to the builder Will I shorten it/ alter wheelbase ? Not likely As well as Johan 63 Dodge chassis compared to Lindberg 64 Plymouth chassis -

On the '62 Dodge body. After grinding out the radiator support you need to open it up a little behind the head light area to get the Lindberg radiator support / inner fenders to fit down in it right Shown modified beside a unmodified '62 Dodge body This area does not need to be done in the '63 Dodge body, shown beside the uncut '62 Dodge body. In this picture you can see the bump in the 62 that the 63 does not have. This bump needs ground down some. Dont go to crazy and risk going thru the body, as not much is required . Best I can tell All that needs done to the '63 is remove the molded in radiator support -

2nd the comparisons between the 62 Dodge versus 63 Dodge is minor, but noticeable and thus require some mods to the chassis to use it in the 62 White kit chassis is uncut in the '63 Painted kit chassis is modified in the '62 The front section I've highlighted in black needs to be removed. On both ends to make it fit / Plus the sides rearward of the rear wheel house needs to be narrowed a touch BTW, The angled ends where I have pointed with maker DOES not need to be done. I got a little over jealous making cuts -
As posted elsewhere. I am building a 62 Dodge SS car and have decided to use the modern Lindberg chassis Was asked to post my findings on how to do it I have both 62 and 63 Dodge Johan kits So Ive decided to post the conversion using both bodies and their differences required. 1st off the chassis are not the same between the 64 Dodge kit and the 64 Plymouth kit. For this conversion Im using the Plymouth chassis on both . As the wheelbase seems to fit better AND its narrower and shorter OAL so it fits the bodies with less effort required by the builder. 1st up the Lindberg chassis in the Johan '63 Dodge body is practically a drop in. All I see that will be required is removing the molded in radiator support for the body. Maybe have to move the rear axle ever so slightly forward at most a 1/32nd to 1/8th of an inch

Thanks, But I don't think I have the energy to go down that route -
Thanks, It looks like the engine compartment is tight Much appreciated as I have one, maybe 2 of these on a very short list here soon
-
There was no requirement so to speak. Tire wheel options were just that , Options. and have no bearing on engine choices at all You could very well get a 1970 hemi Charger and all that goes with it. And still ride on 14inch wheels / tires And Im pretty sure you could get a 383 Charger on 15inch wheels with F60-15s

Very VERY nice. Super clean build If you dont mind me asking, Any issues building this one? I have 2 of these kits on a very shirt to do list here very soon.

Thanks for the info I dont have any real interest in making my own. So with this info, I'll just use the Lindberg headers and move -

This is incorrect 1966-67 hemi cars were 14 inch ONLY 1966 were 7.75-14 Blue streaks side wall ( there is some information they MIGHT have used whitewalls as well. , but nothing written that Ive seen ) 1967 were F70-14 redlines 1968-69 Were 15 inch F70-15s ONLY Redlines or white lines 1970 were 14 inch standard, with F70-14s - could be RWL or pinstripe whitewall , And 15 inch with F60-15s with RWL Im not sure on 71s what was standard 1970-71 E bodies were 15 inch with F60-15s ONLY RWL only

Sprayed some TS54 over a real dark blue base. Yields me a color REALLY close to the exterior Almost dead on . Used the Fusion Chrome on valve covers Imo. They are as good as kit chrome pieces -

After messing with the stock kit chassis I saw no real way to get the car to sit ' right' So I jumped in both feet to modify the body ( very scary feeling ) and a Lindberg chassis from one of the SS Dodge / Plymouth kits Taking a knife and grinder to a kit that was painted many years ago was scary as I have no idea what I used to paint it back then But all in all. It went well and with a bunch of mods to both chassis and body. It fits . Pretty well I think. In all honesty. This one was a test to see if I could do similar mods to a Johan 1963 Dodge kit I have Even though the kit has a Dana rear axle. which is wrong for this car, I'll live with it as I do nt have any spare 8-3/4 rear axles to give up for this car I haven't decided fully if I will try to make or use Johan fender well headers,,,,OR just use the Lindberg pieces. Chassis required I cut A lot off the ft and some trimming on the back. Otherwise it fits decent I had to remove everything behind the kit body grille to make it fit , ( that was scary ) -
i have him making me 2 different sheets right now He did mention he was 10 weeks backlogged . Im in no hurry
-
I have that kit and this is THE very car I plan to replicate FY1 Yellow, Tan interior sunroof and trunk mounted luggage rack
