So ugly, Its plain cool. Blairs Speed Shop 1962 Dodge Dart
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Drag Racing
Thanks gents. They definitely have a face only a mother would love. Its not my favorite body style. But the more I worked on this one. The more I liked it. And it's definitely one of my favorites in the case . Doing that quarter glass and trim was done with the car completely assembled. ( I dont recommended that method btw , tedious is an understatement ) I should have done it while building the car. But sadly, wasn't paying close enough attention to the photos of the actual car I have. All's well that ends well I guess. -

They say its a fine line between bravery and stupidity. Well, I decided to see just how fine. And made , and glued in some quarter windows to make it a sedan body. Using a spare body I have, took some tape to the inside of the body and drew out the shape and transferred that to some clear acetate sheet. Painted some small sprue pieces in a color pretty close to the body. I do NOT recommend this to anyone I held my breath the entire time . Good thing I used clear Elmers glue JUST in case I screwed it up I felt like I had a chance to correct it. So, with Fingers crossed dove in. NOW its done and up in my case -

Another FINALLY out of the box, finished and in the case after far far too many years in storage Painted this one I think at least 10 years ago with Dupli color rattle can lacquer. It crazed the surface just enough I was not happy and put it away. Until a few months ago. What was supposed to be a simple out of the box / curbside build turned into an upgrade with the modern Lindberg chassis swap. The finish is A LONG WAY from perfect . But dang it if it didnt turn into a cool looking car on the shelf Comments or criticisms are very much appreciated and more than welcome. Thanks for looking in

A very small update I had some time today so decided to see what I could do with the engine. Using the max wedge and auto trans from a Lindberg Color Me Gone kit I chromed the valve covers using the fusion chrome paint Pre wired dist from MAD scratch made fuel lines using craft wire and some crimp ferrels painted white to replicate inline fuel filters chrome air cleaners from the parts box, no idea the original source With a little luck I just might have this one done and off the bench by Christmas. Its not 100% accurate to the actual car. But I can live with it -

Parts book, Lists only one molding choice. and per my sources all say it was red painted stripe BUT, Ive seen a few cars over the years where the mldg had a black stripe in it Owner painted, ? Factory mistake ? You decide -

Im in same thought. HOPEFULLY, they fix the snafu on the quarter panel lettering Otherwise I have a couple of the AMT 64s I can make what I want with -
I look at these picture's and am awestruck every time. Practically every single piece is hand made from nothing and made to look like jewelry in model form This is absolutely insane level of work above sheer mortals But I am curious. Considering the 1st post on this was in 2016 Do you keep track the number of hours invested in something like this?

67 Plymouth Belvedere question.
gtx6970 replied to Brutalform's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yes I did But the shape of the seat is NOT accurate to a 1967 Belvedere . As the belvederes back seat DID NOT have that same sunk in center like the GTX did Plus the pattern isnt even close . But it was the only thing I could find with a reasonable search effort IF I were to do another 67 Belvedere conversion build. I will take a good look at trying to use the above 3d printed seats instead. The pattern is a little different . But the shape is more accurate to my eyes I have his entire interior conversion on hand for another build Ive got planned If one were to go the 3d seat direction, It will require a hand made pkg tray -

Just got back from the MCACN show in Chicago Friend of mines 1968 Coronet RT vert made it's debut The only 426 Hemi 4spd vert to exist I already have a replica of this car started and on the bench using the MPC body and interior combined with the chassis and drivetrain along with everything that goes along with it from the Revell 1968 Charger -
Following along here. As I have a few of these same AMT kits Id planned to use the Revell TBolt kit as a chassis doner, but this may change that plan

Thanks, I never expected I would like it as much as I do when I dug out of the oblivion a while back. Not that I can do anything about it now, But I Wish now I had done better on the paint work back then. Such is life I guess Im happy with it overall The car will look great in my case with all the other door slammers I have from the era. -

Slowly,,,,But surely Rear wheels from the Moebius AFX kits Rear tires from the AMT tires parts pack, Ft wheels from the AMT 62 Impala chromed with the fusion chrome paint Stance is too low in the ft for sure. But I like it. I'm calling it more a 'tribute build ' instead of a true replica anyway. But I'm liking this one more and more as it goes along -

Great builds And I thought I had a glutton for punishment doing 2 cars at same time . Im such an amateur . Im not a Ford fan persay. But do have a soft spot for the R model cars though Excellent pkg for the day that did very well overall I had an opportunity to visit the Brothers Collection this past spring. And they own a few of these cars ps, If you ever get an invite to see their collection in person, TAKE IT. Its worth the trip trust me -
I have several. Including a couple that simply comes down to or all of the following Sometimes its a parts availability is the issue How to do something I want to do can be a barrier Sometimes I just get distracted and it gets forgotten about Only to be found years later How many I have in said que ?, Deep down I have no idea . But its several for sure
