I've found them at Hobby Lobby. They're 10.99 for a pack of 16. If you use the Hobby Lobby 40% off, that's 6.59 plus tax. Hobbylinc also carries them if you don't have a HL close by. http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/brh/brh31.htm The strong hold ones are almost too sticky.

I love it!

That's a really good theory, Roger. I used Future when I sprayed the orange and didn't get this problem. Maybe some sort of filtering system would eliminate that issue. I previously used water/alcohol with some flow aids and slow dry stuff as a thinner. Might switch back to it and see what happens. The thing I really like about acrylics is the ease in stripping it off. At this point, I need it!

I repeatedly cleaned the tip while painting. Also thinned the mixture from 1:1 to 1.5:1 (Future to paint). Also upped the air pressure from 25 to 30. Nothing helped. This particular color seemed to always "spray dry". I'm going to try again tomorrow morning. I'll get it but I could sure use some suggestions. I'm thinking I'm too far from the model. I'm shooting mist coats at about 6-8".

I'm slowly getting the hang of acrylics. I'm thinning it using Future 1:1 with the paint. Just before shooting this model, I sprayed another body light orange and it came out fine. Cleaned the A/B and shot some red and it seemed to be spitting the paint out. Would not spray smoothly and seemed to be clogging the brush. I let it dry, sanded the spots off, mixed the paint again very thoroughly (I thought) and shot some more. Same problem. Seems like the paint has tiny clumps in it or something. It's not specks of dust. It's hard to see so you might need to click on the pic to see the specks. Am I not getting it mixed enough? Bad bottle of paint? Throw it away and open a new bottle? What say ye?

Thanks, Lee!

What air pressures do you spray at, Lee?

Welcome back, Lewis. I returned a little while back after quitting in the early 60s. I think you'll find this forum to be so helpful. I have. PS That body of the MP4-25 looks like a futuristic Batmobile. Love it!

Welcome to the forum, Bill. I've been using this recipe lately and really like it. Still working on getting the clear to work though. Fill 100 ml container with 2/3 distilled water, and 1/3 isopropyl alcohol. Add 2 ml of Liquitex Professional Flow-Aid Fluid Medium and 2 ml of Liquitex Professional Slow Dri Blending Medium.

Plasti-dip as liquid mask

Snake, what ratios do you use for the ingredients? How do you apply it and how do you remove it? -
Pat, you do know that the Pledge Floor Care is an acrylic clear. It's won't strip paint.

Anyone ever use Model Master Acryl Gloss Clear?
Miatatom replied to Miatatom's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Roger, it sounds like an issue with whatever was under the clear. The spoons I shot are rock hard. -
I shot some spoons yesterday and got very good results. I'm shooting with a Badger Patriot 105 with 0.5 mm needle and tip. I set my pressure at about 14-16 psi. It almost seemed to be a little too thick. Still managed to get it to spray and loved the finish. Have any of you ever used MM gloss clear or any other acrylic clear? What about pressure, distance, multiple mist coats or heavier wet coats, etc.?

I can't say this was my idea. I got it from Dr. Cranky here on the forum. I'm lucky enough to have a son that's a CNC machinist so I asked him to make what I'd call alignment blocks. They're made from stainless steel, measure 2"x2"x1/2" thick and weigh about a pound each. I use them to align wheels/tires. -
PanaVise (or other vise recommendation)

You can get a cheap knock off at Harbor Freight for $16.99. I've got 2 of them, bolted to 2x6s. They work great! http://www.harborfreight.com/2-3-4-quarter-inch-articulated-vacuum-vise-3311.html -

Allen, I think I understand what you've built but some close up pics of the stand with a part being held would really be helpful. I'm always interested in stuff like this. I use one of these mounted to a 2x6. http://www.harborfreight.com/2-3-4-quarter-inch-articulated-vacuum-vise-3311.html I've got another gadget I use that has 4 arms, made of thick wire with alligator clip on the end. I use some as well. Can't remember where I bought it though. -
Thanks!
